i support guns but background checks seem good

i support guns but anytime someone mentions background checks instantly people jump to the conclusion that
you want to ban guns. i dont wanna ban guns i just want more background checks as a precautionary thing.
the people that say "we already have background checks" then it wouldnt hurt to have some more right?
im not for banning guns but what other ways could we stop shootings? perhaps taking propganda off news media
which is trying to make people upset for ratings. im sure they report violence that happens but
im sure they also make it seem bigger to get more ratings so maybe this would help stop it.
ive heard stuff about how in canada they have less news media violence and they feel safer
and they leave their doors unlocked. canada has lots of guns and even fewer gun murders then america.
i think it says something about that guns arent the issue its that this country is more violent
or that the news media makes people violent. i think more background checks are good
and could help but i see whats going on in other countrys and america seems to lag behind.

We already do background checks.

All causes I think...but the gun lobby will have you believe a gun is a defense against all threats to your life.
Ah, yes, that evil, insidious "gun lobby".

Should there be a national database though ?

Although I understand your desire for a database. It's the first step in national confiscation, So no.

It is a national database on background checks under discussion

I think you're mixing up a national registry of firearms

On a side note, the gun lobby screams that a repeal of the second amendment and a gun ban will NEVER happen...yet in the same breath they oppose a national gun registry on the grounds that it's an inexorable procession to exactly the same thing

As we say, having their cake and eating it.

You mean you used a link off Wiki ?
You believe them ?

The correlation between states with high violent crime and liberal gun laws

A word of warning: be careful about using the "T" word.

Correlation does not proof causation.

It's a slick way of saying who has what. Wonder why they wanted to know what kind of firearm I was getting?

As we say(or I), you like your cake then want dessert, and then something to wash it down.

Another I'm pro Second Amendment BUT. I don't want to ban guns BUT. I don't want to ban ammo BUT "a license"same as. Am I the only one that bugs? Yeah that constant "well that country did" gets old.

Kind reminds me of Obama saying how he supports the 2nd amendment but also supports "reasonable gun control".

I oppose any and all attempts to register guns or gun owners.

Why do you want more background checks if the purpose is not to ban somebody from not having a weapon?

Do you want some people banned from.owning guns?

If it means telling the government how many I have and where they are located. then no.

Another problem is there is no way to tell who is a potential risk for a possible gun crime. I've seen some ridiculous lists.

So you want no limits of any kind on who can buy a gun?

I didn't say that.

But if you want an example of the ridiculousness of lists see Rich's post 25. Not one of his list items have ever been shown to reduce crime.

Back decades ago before I was old enough to drive I purchased several weapons from NRA through the mail without an ID.

I also remember purchasing a pair of SA colts and carrying them home on the trolly car. Yet gun crime was no better or worse than today.
