I collect WWII rifles. They all will fire, some more accurately than others. All will hit a 30 inch target at 200 yards with iron sights. (No scope or optics).
I have one handgun, a “snubbie” , also know as “snub nosed .38”. Sounds best when said with a New York accent. :) It’s the pistol you see in the old black and white movies.
Sadly, I unlocked it and loaded it with .38 Special today. Like the 75 year old rifles, it still works quite well.
Hope to Christ I don’t have to use it.

Sweet .. the only WWII weapon I own is the long version of the Mosin Nagant. Shoots the 7.62x54R and it still takes down deer even as recently as 2018.

A "snub nose" according to hubby are good at close range so for protection it is good enough.

The way things are going with all the unrest, we are locked and loaded. And according to my hubby the social butterfly so is the entire neighborhood.

Then don't and turn it in.

Yes, under a "buy back" program.

Self defense is easier with a firearm. You'd be surprised to see how many households have a self defense weapon, even some people you may know.

Says who ?

If lethal force is your only option, you might hesitate in using it

Whereas a non-lethal "weapon" might be employed sooner

People have a natural aversion to killing

We also see this emotion at work in juries, a jury is less likely the return a guilty verdict if they feel that doing so will result in a death penalty sentence....so any doubt they have tend to be amplified.
