The events going on in the US right now provide overwhelming evidence that you - and only you - are responsible for your own safety and the safety of your family. The rotten government will not protect you, instead it uses events like this as a pretext to violate your rights even more than it already does.

All gun control laws need to be abolished, as they only benefit criminals and the government, which are basically the same thing.

gun control does not automatically equate to gun banning. That is a lie from ignorant right wingers who are afraid to actually have an intelligent debate about gun control. Stop lying.

In Nevada we have gun control laws such as registering firearms along with background checks AND we have open carry so stop the lies that gun control automatically equates to gun banning.

Any store owner who has insurance should just leave and file a claim along with a police report. Saving money should not be considered of any defense related option.

Ummm...it's not over at all. I'm very pro-gun but I'm not divorced from reality. The gun control crowd has made lots of gains over the years and will continue to do so. The area they have been making the most gains is in public opinion. I think they will win in the end. That's the cycle of things.

Gun control always equates to gun banning, and anyone who says otherwise is a communist progressive liar. The ONLY purpose to register any firearm is for later confiscation by government. Only a complete idiot would even consider registering a firearm with any government. You seem to think that "open carry" is some kind of privilege bestowed by government. It isn't. It is our constitutionally protected right to be armed at all times, and the manner of how firearms are carried - concealed or open carry - makes absolutely no difference and is not something government has the authority to regulate. In other words, Nevada is deliberately infringing on your constitutionally protected right as we speak.

All gun control is about banning firearms and making government slaves out of its citizens. You can't have government slaves that are armed after all. You may enjoy being a government slave, but it is not what most people want.

Any one whos says gun control is banning is either a drunk, mentally feeble, a fool, malignantly motivated, or a combination of any or all of the above.

I do not think deliberate violations of the Supreme Law of the Land can be construed as "gains." The Heller and McDonald decisions by the Supreme Court would indicate a significant loss for the anti-American gun-control nut-jobs. So what are all these so-called "gains over the years" you claim the gun-control crowd has made?

Sorry but your lies have already been proven incorrect. We HAVE gun control laws in Nevada AND open carry. Take your bull**** and lies elsewhere. Thank you for proving me right that right wing extremists like you cannot have an intelligent debate about gun control without adding in idiotic hyperbole to the discussion. There obviously is a "glitch" in your logic.

Nevada is violating the Second Amendment, as do all States that impose any kind of regulation or restriction against firearms. Only a moron would register a firearm, which says a great deal about intelligence level of Nevada's citizens.

In Alaska I don't register any firearm. I can carry my firearms in any manner I please, openly or concealed, and I don't need permission from government. I have never had, nor will I ever have, a background check for any firearm I own or will purchase in the future. There is no gun control in Alaska, as it should be, because Alaskans recognize the individual right to be armed at all times is not something government has the authority to regulate.

I hope you enjoy being a government slave.

I lived in Alaska for years, and I can attest that your thinking is in the extreme minority and outside the Constitution and American law.

Grow up and live free.

All gun control?

Do you mean that literally?

Can I bring my sniper rifle to a trump rally?

Correct. It will never be over until one side or the other wins. With the advent of mass media and the science of propaganda those who desire to rule over the rest of the sheeple will eventually convince most sheeple "it is in their best interests" to disarm. [See continued response below...]

Right as to the first bolded. Unfortunately wrong as to the second red-bolded.

Human beings are merely more highly developed animals. But we remain social, herd-like creatures nonetheless. Most people simply want to eat, sleep, have sex, and relax safely doing their favorite things in some comfort area. Some few want to rule, and most people will allow this as long as they think the rule isn't too harsh. Of course, historically, few realize that the rule almost always becomes harsher as the rulers demand more and more obedience so they can take more and more for themselves. Such rulers will always find a relatively small class of "enforcers" willing to help control the masses in exchange for special privileges.

IMO most people have no problem surrendering their "safety" to others who promise security in exchange for obedience and a share of the fruits of your labor. Just look at the past history of human civilization.

Only a very small percentage of people are more individualistic. Who prefer freedom, however tenuous, to security.

The USA came about from dissenters; individuals who did not like the status quo and sought "elsewhere" to be free. It continued to work here for a while because there was a release valve. As the original settlements became "secure" most people lapsed back into "security more important that freedom" thinking. But there was still 'The West' to move out to allowing for a release of pressure on those who still preferred liberty to security.

Unfortunately, we no longer have that kind of release valve. Now, our major population centers are packed with people who just "want to eat, sleep, and be left alone" and are willing to pay any price to have someone else take care of them.

Fishking is correct in that eventually the controllers will win. But I will continue to oppose this while I live, futile as it may be.

Yep I'm so much a government slave I enjoy owning all firearms I want, able to shoot them and open carry. Your comments of "slavery" are nothing but hyperbole, childish remarks. I bet you think stop lights make you a slave to the state as well. :lamo

when you are able to actually have an intelligent conversation, let us know. Because right now my 4 year old niece has more intelligent conversations than you.

Do they have registration now in nevada? When I lived there initially they did in Las Vegas (blue card) but did away with it. Is it back?

LIES as usual from you:

Alaska prohibits any type of carry in schools, domestic violence shelters, courts, and correctional institutions. Carrying is also prohibited in any place where alcohol is served for on-site consumption, with an exception for restaurants that serve alcohol, as long as one is not consuming alcohol while carrying. When encountering a police officer, a person carrying a concealed weapon is required by law to inform the officer they are carrying, and to cooperate if the officer chooses to temporarily seize the gun for the length of the encounter. The possession of any firearm while intoxicated is illegal.[4]

Gun laws in Alaska - Wikipedia

So yeah, Alaska HAS gun control laws.

It's been a requirement since I've bought firearms in Nevada since about 2011 when I started buying here. I've had to register all but one. Even the gun shows you have to register.

A certain breed of men there, and a very few women, live in the wilderness north of Fairbanks. We soldiers who used to camp and explore the wilderness on our down time were counseled to stay away from such, and if we encountered them, to not engage and just walk away.

LOL! Consider the source. Every high school built in Anchorage after 1977 includes an indoor gun range. Not only do we allow firearms in schools, we teach high school students how to use them properly.

Take your gun to court and tell us how it goes for you

I may like to think otherwise, but I can't really argue with what you said.

After the 09/11/01 attacks I watched Bush send the National Guard to every major airport in the US for 6 months in order to ensure Americans it was "safe" to fly. While the uniformed National Guard units openly carried their M16s, not one of them had a magazine for their rifle. Demonstrating that security is merely an illusion to make the self-deluded "feel" safe. I also watched Americans gladly and eagerly surrender their constitutionally protected right "to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures" as the TSA was created.

Now during this COVID-19 pandemic I see that same fear from the citizens, and their eagerness in their panic to do whatever government tells them. Even when it will kill them.

Based upon these observations, it would appear that my statement about being a government slave "is not what most people want" may have been in error. It certainly would appear that Americans are more than willing to give up their liberties, even their lives, and become government slaves. However, I am not among them.

Fishking is not correct however. Since at least 1215 we have culturally and socially migrating towards more individual liberties, not less. The Second Amendment in the US Constitution can be directly linked to Magna Carta's premise that everyone has the right to be armed. It was initially intended only to restrict the federal government, but the Fourteenth Amendment and the recent McDonald decision made it also applicable to the States. I consider that to be a gain for individual liberty, and a serious loss for the government slave advocates.

Gains for the gun banners. Of course, many of them don't know they are gun banners but they are, ultimately. And the Supreme Court will lag behind the rest of society as it is an older institution. Might be a generation or so behind. I think with the gun banners basically having a near monopoly of media and education, it's fairly inevitable.

That is what I am asking. What are those "gains for the gun banners" that you are referring?

The Fourteenth Amendment was ratified in 1868. At that point in time every restriction that applied to the federal government should have also applied to the States. However, because the Supreme Court decided on its own to use "selective incorporation" it would not be until 1925 before the First Amendment would apply to the States in the Gitlow decision, and 2010 before the Second Amendment was applied to the States in the McDonald decision. It wasn't until February 2020 before the Supreme Court finally incorporated the Eighth Amendment, making it applicable to the States. So that is effectively a 152 year lag.
