[W:640] Why People Shouldn't Carry Guns

It says everything on why people should not be allowed to carry guns.

And why ordinary people are and should be fearful of other people walking around public places, armed with guns.

irrational fears are not a proper basis for violating constitutional rights

If people drove their guns to work you might have a point. Guns represent an unnecessary and often fatal danger to society.
The Perro de Presa Canario is also an unnecessary and sometimes fatal danger to society, perhaps they should be banned.

If that father and son hadn't had guns, they wouldn't have murdered the jogger.
You can't prove that. They could've murdered him without guns.
And besides, if George Washington's army didn't have guns to use against your people he wouldn't be on the dollar bill, I would say it was a good thing they had guns.

Actually the most common "use" of a handgun is suicide so apparently many do know what a gun is used for.

A shotgun has shown to be more effective for suicide than a handgun.

That's why they shouldn't look at them while driving

Not why they shouldn't be carried

Do you think people shouldn't carry books, newspapers, photographs in their wallet, laptops etc ?

Same goes for firearms. People shouldn't use firearms to shoot people while driving. That's not a not a valid reason for banning carrying.

So many gun owners feel entitled.

I suppose its a good thing for you that you don't live in Richmond.

Then they shouldn't be looked at when driving

A cell phone kills nobody. A cell phone has never been used to kill anybody
(though I expect a certain couple of posters to frantically search the internet for an instance of someone bludgeoning someone to death with a phone)

You didn't answer the question, do you feel the same way about carry books, newspapers, photographs in their wallet, laptops etc ?

Do you feel that citizens should be prohibited from carrying guns ?

I've seen more people reading newspapers, books, laptops, etc than playing with their guns while driving. Firearms are a Constitutional right, newspapers and cell phones are not. So absolutely not.

No, that they're used to shoot other people is the reason.

It seems you're not up to speed

There can be no significant gun control until the 2nd amendment is repealed (you're free to rant here about how unlikely that is, most gun owners do at this point)
So no, in the scenario banning guns, it would NOT be a constitutional right.

What do you think handguns are designed for?

That would depend. There are many different types of handguns designed for different purposes. A 9mm semi auto would make a good target gun, its easy to handle and good for target shooting. A big hand cannon such as the .44 Magnum was designed for hunting medium to large game so its a good hunting handgun. Any handgun can be used for target practice although a 9mm would be much easier to handle than a .44 Magnum if you're target shooting, although the .44 Magnum will definitely present a greater challenge so if its a challenge you want you might go with the .44 Magnum.

So it depends on the handgun, as for what its designed for.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Do you?

Handguns are not nearly as accurate as rifles for target shooting. They are designed to shoot humans at close range. You even practice on targets with a human silhouette. Hand guns suck for hunting animals too.

Most people with suicidal thoughts do not act on it or attempt an unsuccessful suicide....unless they have a gun handy.

Tell that to the friends and families of all the people that commit suicide in Japan.

Who says they didn't, I would have thought they did.

So according to you McDonald's employees need to be carrying now...has American society really degenerated that far. Do you also recommend bullet proof vests ?
Do all bars and counters required a transparent, bullet proof wall ?
During this COVID-19 crisis, I would say yes.

"An Oklahoma woman who was said to be so incensed that a McDonald’s dining area was closed due to the coronavirus pandemic that she shot three teenage employees has been identified by police.
Gloricia Woody, 32, was arrested Wednesday night after the shooting at the McDonald’s near Southwest 89th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, in Oklahoma City.
Police Captain Larry Withrow said Woody entered the restaurant at around 6:22pm and was told by workers the dining area had been closed for safety reasons.
Woody was asked to leave but refused, and police said a physical altercation then ensued between the suspect and an employee.
‘The suspect was forced out of the restaurant by employees. She re-entered the restaurant with a handgun and fired approximately three rounds in the restaurant,’ Withrow said.
One employee was shot in the arm, one suffered a shrapnel wound in the shoulder area and another employee was struck in the side by shrapnel.
The employee who fought with Woody suffered a head injury during the altercation, police said. The specific nature of the injury was not immediately clear.
Injuries to the four employees were non-life-threatening. Three employees with gunshot wounds were taken to a local hospital, police said.
Two of the employees are 16 years old and the others are 18, Withrow said. He did not know which employees were wounded by the gunfire...

Thankfully, this lady didn't kill anyone.

Mentally disturbed people shouldn't carry guns.

You are not intelligent or honest enough to differentiate between lawful gun carriers and mentally disturbed gun carriers.

A 9mm handgun is not designed for target shooting.

Considering there are literally hundreds of different 9mm handguns designed for many different uses, Again you have no idea what you are talking about. Try Googling 9mm target pistols.

Two recent shootings over people being told to observe the restrictions and one dead

And you think guns are not a problem ?
Guns are not the problem.

Shooters are the problem.

Everything from target practice, entertainment, to taking down big game.

LOL Is that why you practice on targets with a human silhouette? Because they are the "big game"?
