Curtail sales, eliminating or imposing significant restriction on some guns, even taking them off the open market, is not exactly banning guns, and a vast majority of Americans agree with this motion. But, whatever. You've made it clear that even the machine gun "ban" is a step too far.

Its amusing you think we havnt improved on stability of assault rifles. I can keep an assault rifle on a target like oh a human being for a decent amount of time, enough time to get enough shots in, then again you dont need that many shots to kill someone. Of course this doesnt mention this nifty little thing called a bipod....

I fired the M-14 fully automatic at Fort Ord, CA and knew how it bounced all over. Generally the barrel moves up. So we were told on full automatic to sweep to the right to help that problem.

I was quite pleased with the M-14 and felt the recoil was merely how it was. Also the recoil was not severe.

That's weird because the M-14 is generally considered to be America's poorest rifle. Did you use a bipod for full auto ?

That said, I had a POS SA-80 L-85 and next to it, the M-14 was a work of art.

There are literally dozens of programs created and run by African Americans designed to try and help prevent gang violence and protect those at risk.

Claiming that “blacks don’t speak out against gang violence” is laughably ignorant.

I did not hear of the M-14 being a poor weapon. I only fired that at Ft. Ord and we got to fire them on full automatic as well as semi automatic. It had the ability to hold more bullets so perhaps it was the added weight. I believe in Vietnam they went for low weight ammo to help troops carry more rounds than we could.

One fully automatic weapon I fired prior to going into the Army was called the Grease Gun. It fired .45 cal bullets. It looked just like it was a grease gun. '

I suspect you fire the tiny caliber assault rifle. Are you calling an AR-15 an assault rifle? I sure hope not. I sold an M1 Garand that also was semi automatic but never in training was it called an assault rifle despite being a lot larger caliber than the AR-15.

What makes you suspect I have not looked up guns in 50 years? I once had around 8 or 9 rifles and some were military.

IIRC, the M-14 had the shortest service life of any rifle in US service.
It was intended to replace the M-1, BAR and the M-3. It did none of those jobs well.

It was adopted in 1959 and it was completely unsuited for America's next war - Vietnam


I once had a debate with someone over which was the cheapest allied sub-machine gun in WWII, the M-3 Grease Gun or the Mk II STEN

My father carried a STEN in the Home Guard during the war as he was to young to be conscripted into the regular army.


When I left the infantry, my weapon was the successor to the STEN the Sterling SMG (happy memories - they all got sold to India when the army decided we had to be issued with the L-85 SA-80 which takes the cake for the worst weapon ever on general issue to the British army - by a country mile).

I left the army in 2001 so never handled the A2 version, which they say is better.

that's a ban and no firearms should be banned. and I don't care about polls when it comes to unconstitutional violations. Most Americans -at least at one time-opposed interracial marriage, homosexuals having civil rights and legalized abortion

*with a caveat that some guns would be made exceptions based on make and model number.

for most uses -the FN-FAL was a superior weapon than the M14. Where the M14 shined was long range use against static targets. M14s were brought out of storage for use in the Gulf conflicts for use against longer range targets. Such targets were almost non-existent in Vietnam. Heavy battle rifles are not the most appropriate weapons for general infantry use.
