What are the extreme positions to normal Americans-as opposed to far left anti gun activists?

Simple: the NRA is full of easily duped people who believe all sorts of conspiracy theories about Clinton, Obama and “cultural Marxism” and would and do happily support a Christian, far right regime.

The Chechens were better armed and organized than any militia group here in the states could dream of being and they still got crushed. The Russians learned from that. Not only that, they learned that if you co-opt the armed groups, it saves you the time and effort it would take to crush them. But that’s more of a side note; the Russians are never going to launch a conventional invasion of the US.

The Russians gained invaluable technical secrets and caught numerous “undesirables” who could have destabilized their new empire by making ties with British universities and scientific places of learning. By co-opting the NRA, they gain a pool of volatile, often anti government, easily fooled puppets they can point at a target and wait for the fireworks.

It was a bipartisan Bill, passed by a vast majority in both Houses, meaning it was supported by both parties.

what is an extended magazine?
background checks are worthless and the government doesn't have the proper power to demand private citizens conduct them. The Obama justice dept determined that without complete registration, such a law cannot be enforced. The NRA does not support those adjudicated mentally incompetent be allowed to own firearms

that you want to ban semi auto weapons shows that the real extremists are not the NRA. 90% of the handguns and more than half the rifles and shotguns that have been sold in the USA over the last 30 years are semi autos.

Just accept the fact that you had no idea the 1968 GCA was bipartisan, had little to do with crime control but everything to do with public figures being assassinated, including a president who was murdered by a mail ordered gun.

that isn't the point-the point is this-NRA members saw LBJ sign into law an act that harassed lawful gun owners and they turned to the NRA. and over the years, the Democratic Party has become militantly anti gun rights. I already proved that all the major contenders for the DNC nomination want to ban commonly owned firearms from being sold and some wanted to confiscate those firearms that are currently owned.
