Yes, they were stupid, but an incident like that in Western Europe would result in zero deaths.
As macabre as it seems, I actually agree with you.
To many the consequence of being executed is too removed from their consciousness.
Dylan Roofe didn't care about being executed when he murdered the church goers...he sure as hell does now as he virtually begs for a please deal with a life sentence.
If there were public executions, the disconnect would-be murderers have with execution would be removed and the fear of it, as a very real punishment, might stay in their minds
I would also encourage schools to arrange visits to prisons.
What's point of a deterrent if criminals only understand it and it's consequences after the crime ?
this was a field visit destination for our scouts as they were about to enter their teens
while they tried to act aloof and cool as a group, it was very apparent no scout wanted part of this societal underbelly
