It's been seized on by gun owners who hysterically scream that they need to repel the home "invaders" with guns of their own.

Guns aren't too picky who they're pointed at, be it a school child, a church goer or an armed policeman.

I agree with them, and I am fully and sufficiently armed. Started shooting at 4 years of age, and I have taught all 16 of my grandchildren to shoot and respect guns for what they can do, including my now 7 year old twin grandsons. Both smart enough to know guns are not toys, and they are not to touch them without adult supervision. Not that any are within their reach at any time. Their father is a doctor, their mother a Nurse Practitioner, and both practice at a range twice each week.

You are speaking to the wrong family man with this nonsense.

As a former NYPD gold shield, I've cleaned up the aftermath of unarmed citizens who have suffered violent intrusions into their homes. Never pretty. As a private citizen, in this nation, three times I've used the presence of my sidearms to protect other individuals, mere display of a holstered weapon on two occasions. Never as a police officer did I find it necessary to draw my weapon outside a practice range for 15 years of service. As the owner of a private security company for 25 years, twice I killed in defense of clients outside this nation, one a Nazi fugitive on the run trying to murder a World Court witness against him. I've also killed during war. I am your nightmare.

Your angst is unwarranted. Your appeal to emotions, less so.

    They should've locked their door

Are you saying that they could'v prevented intrusion with a gun ?
How much prettier would that be ?

Could you not have used something else ?

If you're such a nightmare, why did you think you needed a gun ?

I find it is the gun owners who claim they need guns for defense .
