This is why gun control laws should stay away from definitions
Eg. banning a "military style" gun because it has a bayonet lug
British gun laws are generally good but they define a handgun by length, so welding on a metal rod increases the length and makes it legal
The answer is to ban ALL guns and allow for the executive to produce a list of exemptions by make and model number.
Only if we do that for cars first. Unfortunately, in order for the American people to be safe, no current car model will be available.

California's CCW laws are even more ridiculous.

More children die from swimming pool drownings than die from getting shot. How many people die each year from swimming pool accidents ?
And you would need at least the same amount of approval to pass an amendment banning guns, which is never going to happen. To bpass an amendment banning cars you need 75% of states to approve, so stop counting states after you get to 13 who'll reject your ridiculous plan.
That's how its done in Japan. In Japan the law states, "No-one shall possess a fire-arm or fire-arms or a sword or swords" and then makes some exemptions for certain rifles and shotguns. So you do want gun laws like Japan.

No mandatory gun registration would make gun ownership into a privilege. Gun ownership is not a privilege in the USA its a right. So no need to oppose mandatory gun registration then which TurtleDude says is a first step to confiscation...which would require a repeal of the 2nd amendment.
...mandatory gun registration would make gun ownership into a privilege...
How would it ?
Under your registration how much would it cost to register and would there be an annual fee associated with this program. How would it ?
What differentiates a privilege from a right is that with a privilege certain standards must be met and maintained in order to be allowed to do it. That's why you have to register cars that you drive on public roads, because driving is a privilege in the USA.

I would guess under $100, but that would be per gun.

Is that per year?
I can see how that would impact lower income people and create an unnecessary burden on exercising their right
So why do you have to register to vote ?
So that your vote can be properly registered and determine which elections you are eligible to vote in.
So why do you have to register to vote ?
So it's OK to regulate voting rights to ensure your right to vote isn't misused
But seemingly some argue that it's NOT OK to regulate the right to bear arms to ensure that right isn't misused.
Ridiculous statement
What about kitchen knives ?
How many people die each year from swimming pool accidents ?
Why don't you start a thread about banning cars and see how much support you get ?

I personally am against registering to vote. I don't think you should have to register to vote and the fact that you do I would have to say is unconstitutional.
The way voting rights are 'regulated' in OR. I would say are misused. Why wouldn't gun rights being regulated be misused?
