SAGINAW, MI — Gunshots on Saginaw’s East Side led to a parolee spending his New Year’s Eve in jail.
About 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, Michigan State Police troopers in the area of Wilkins and Cambrey streets heard “consistent celebratory gunfire,” according to Special 1st Lt. David Kaiser. The cacophony continued and troopers pinpointed its origins to a house on the corner of Van Etten and Gallagher streets.
Three long guns and an additional handgun were seized by police. Police determined the 26-year-old man was a convicted felon on parole. They arrested him on charges of parole violation, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearm, and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Anyone want to take bets on how quickly he gets through the revolving door of "justice"?

In Texas...

CANTON, Texas — Police say alcohol played a contributing factor when a man threatened to kill New Year's Eve partygoers in Canton, Texas, and was himself shot and killed by an armed guest.
On January 1, 2020, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Canton Police Department, Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a residence in the 500 block of Buffalo Street for a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, police discovered 61-year-old Alan Bates of Plano, Texas, deceased of multiple apparent gunshot wounds.

I imagine a fair amount of stupid was a contributing factor besides alcohol.

Two separate stories of stupid actions, no doubt fueled by a gallon or two of liquid stupid.

Will the parolee stay in jail? Well, probably not, but he should, at least for a while. "Hey, I'm on parole and not supposed to have a gun, so I'll celebrate and shoot in the air on New Years!" What a brain dead moron.

and the other one is simply a case of a Darwin Award.

"During the party, Bates became highly agitated at other attendees of the party, became aggressive, and made threats towards a couple who were also visiting the residence," read a statement from the Canton Police Department. "The couple chose to leave the party to avoid a confrontation."

Despite the couple leaving, witnesses told police they attempted to calm Bates down and, after he became aggressive and threatening to other partygoers, he was asked to leave the residence.

Police say Bates went to his vehicle, retrieved a handgun, and "walked back towards the residence while screaming threats to kill people inside," according to police.

"An attendee of the party heard Bates’ threats, and saw Bates approaching the residence with the handgun," stated the department. "The attendee then armed himself with his own handgun.

"Bates entered the residence with the handgun displayed," continued the statement. "In self-defense, one of the attendees shot Bates multiple times when Bates began entering the living area of the residence."

Good shot.

And two more families with bad memories of the holiday season forever more.

A parolee in possession of a gun raises other questions.

So if "honest, law abiding" citizens don't have guns....criminals will find it much harder to get one too

....LOL, you speaking from experience. :lamo

Laugh any part of your body off you want

Then think about it, every gun (made in a licenced factory that is - which is almost all of them) was legally owned at one time.

So if "honest, law abiding" citizens don't have guns....criminals will find it much harder to get one too
And find it easier to rob, assault and kill honest citizens.

Or brought into the country illegally. Or with the help of the government, e.g. Fast and Furious.

It has already been proven to you when guns are banned criminals continue to have guns.

And find it easier to rob, assault and kill honest citizens....

And as they're arrested, their guns are seized

Meanwhile "honest" citizens are still allowed to have certain gun types if they think they'll be robbed, assaulted or killed without them - as clearly you do

Yeah, let's reference Hollywood movies as sources for data on the thread...no need for verification on what they say and show.

How's that worked our so far?

I hope you're joking.

You mean in countries that have banned guns ?
Joking again, eh?

Yes it was sarcasm

Hollywood movies are NOT a good source of information.
Ok. You weren't, I get it.

And which ones are those, specifically?

Can you tell me what an "assault weapon" is ?
I bet you can't.
It's kinda like pornography - I can't define it, but I know it when I see it. :lamo

So you can't list the countries

And like everyone else, can't define an assault weapon. Lawyers make fortunes arguing against poorly written laws like the assault weapons ban.

What makes you think I was ever trying?

That's because there's no logical definition. Most you guys seem to embrace the "if it looks scary it's an assault weapon".

What makes you think I was ever trying?

LOL, I wasn't able to back up my claims because I wasn't even trying to....just make sweeping, unsubstantiated claims

Another poster on her insists the US Army has such a definition, but they don't

The muzzle of any gun is scary.
