Your right to swing your fist ends at someone else's face. You do not have the right to expose anybody to radiation.

Imaginary slippery slopes don't exist.

You can be killed by simply being close to Radioactive isotopes. A rifle doesn't contain radioactive isotopes.

You're not James Bond, you don't have the right to kill.

No, the 2nd amendment states that a "well regulated" militia is necessary for the security of a free state.
Yeah it doesn't say anything about having to be in a malitia to be considered part of the people, it says the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
ie: an armed militiaman, not just any citizen with any kind of gun.
Well technically a malitiaman is an adult male but I'm all for equal opportunity for the sexes.

Remember "well regulated militia"
Remember the right of the people, not the malitia unless you are suggesting you have to be part of the malitia in order to be part of the people.

Yeah it doesn't say anything about having to be in a malitia to be considered part of the people, it says the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed...

In order to maintain the militia

Believe me I do try.

I'm just not always too successful.

Okay I trust you you try.

So I'm going to explain this again. Your right to swing your fist ends at someone's face that means you don't have the right to hit people I don't know how you can interpret that any other way unless you're being dishonest.

You don't in the 21st century, in the 18th there was a different thought process.

No. It's the same thought process. A militia is made up of civilians. you were thinking about a military there different words because they signify different things.

Unless you claim self defense, which you can't do if you're exposing people to radiation. Which is what I think you said

I know, and in the 18th century it was thought a militia was sufficient to ensure the security of a free state.

My point was you couldn't have nuclear weapons because radioactive isotopes expose people to radiation.

It's still that way. We simply haven't needed a malitia yet.

The founder's intentions for the People's Right to keep and bear arms is made crystal clear by what Thomas Jefferson wrote to James Madison, Dec. 20, 1787:

"What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms."

How does that at all have anything to do with radioactive isotopes?

They are all arms which often cause a lot of unnecessary and unintended collateral damage.

a militia is like a jury. it is convened when needed, and when that need ends, the members of the militia go back to doing whatever they did before they were summoned

No they don't. Gun cannot cause you to have radiation sickness. Someone has to pick it up and use it against you it's not magic.

Different weapons kill in different ways. They cause collateral damage in different ways. That does not make them not weapons.

How is having an unintended hole in your child’s head different than having them exposed to unintended lethal radiation?

Summoned by whom? Anyone with a grievance? How is this different than the country being run by a bunch of armed motorcycle gangs?

At least the founding fathers, under the militia acts of 1792, put the militias under the authority of the President of the United States.
