The amount of time it takes the cops to get there

What you said about arrest/detain is your prime objective. Not everyone will agree with you and have that as the prime objective.

If you disturb/discover and intruder in/on your property, your prime objective is to make them leave

If anyone disagrees, they're stupid (unless of course they're a trained law enforcement officer)

Your last comment is trying to provoke a response. I have been able to legally go to bars for over 50 years. How about you?
Then talk like a mature adult and not some kid who's OD'd on video games.

I'm not quite as old as you, more like 40 years.

A court wouldn't grant you leave to kill a subdued intruder on that basis....

"I couldn't let him go because he might have raped my neighbors daughters"
Who said anything about killing a subdued intruder?

Please get real and re-enter the real world. If you disturb/discover and intruder in/on your property, your prime objective is to make them leave.
Prime objective is to make them leave? Who told you that?

Actually a buddy and I stopped a thief and held him till cops came. I have not stopped anyone by myself. Hence my response that "I" alone held anyone.

I highly recommend you follow your advice. It is clear you have no desire to stop anyone.
You don't need law enforcement training to be able to protect your property. It is good to obtain self defense training and proper use of firearms. Along with the training one must continue to practice to keeps one skill up.

I do find your use of calling someone who disagrees with your view "stupid" as one not wanting to discuss the issue. Your continued effort to try provoke a response by insults is not worth my time. If anyone is talking like a child, it is not me.

Well if there's two of you (guys I mean) I reckon it would be possible.

Beware how you do it though, don't want to get sued on charges of false imprisonment.

    Thank you and I will

The main objective is to make an intruder leave, not hold him

I'd say you don't need police style training to protect your property but you'd certainly find it useful if you're going to do a citizen's arrest

A familiarity of your state's laws would be more than useful too.

To which I'd say I find your comment above: "It is clear you have no desire to stop anyone." as at best provocative.
