Dallas Pizza Delivery Driver Shoots, Kills 15-Year-Old Armed Suspect Who Tried To Rob Him

Let's invent another one, a 15 year old boy on his way to soccer practice, He's walking down the same streets where a grown man needs to be armed to be safe. Should he be allowed to carry?

It is. All too often if somebody is pointing a weapon at you, if you don't shoot first you don't get a chance to shoot second.

Generally speaking, if the individual has spent any time at the range, those who shoot first, also shoot last.

My daughter started shooting at 11; She is maybe 105 soaking wet with rocks in her pockets, and does not reach my chin....but at 24 she carries a Taurus Judge Public Defender ; the .410 / .45 LC is more than enough to stop anyone 4 times her size and weight, and she manages the recoil easily enough.

While I respect your own personal choice to eschew guns, and while almost everyone agrees that this is indeed a shocking tragedy no matter how you slice it, we all have to respect mathematics.

By that I mean it doesn't get much more BINARY than this, shoot the armed robber and live, or don't shoot them and die.

The Judge has been around for a while; I like that you can alternate .45 long with .410 shotgun double 00.

No jams, minimal recoil for smaller folks, and 45 long or .410 will definitely slow anyone down that is looking to do you harm.

My wife has a Taurus PT 908, 9mm Semi, but my daughter is even smaller and has a bit of trouble racking slides on larger frames....the Judge gives her no issues.

Not at all. I'm in favour of every American carrying whatever weapon they prefer. What I don't like is grown men saying they need to be armed to be safe in society and denying young people, girls and boys, the same degree of safety. Sounds kind of cowardly to me.
So where's the line? If you carry a handgun for protection, or if you did in case you don't, how old should you son or daughter be to have the same right to self-protection?

There is a certain curve at which lack of maturity exceeds interest in allowing someone to carry a firearm for protection.

Our society has decided that maturity is at 21 and not 17.

A 17 year old girl should be in school and provided for by her parents and not working dangerous jobs going to stranger’s houses anyway. Her father should not be permitting that

Didn't you work a part-time job when you were in school? I did, lots of people do.
But the job is beside the point. A 17 year old girl lives in the same dangerous society you do and she's more vulnerable. Isn't it kind of cowardly to say that you need a handgun to protect yourself but she can't have the same protection?
