A homeowner shot and killed a man who he said was attempting to burglarize his Cocoa home, officials said.
Police received a call from the homeowner around noon Wednesday.
Officials said the homeowner told them a person in black and wearing a mask broke out a window at the back of the house in an attempt to get inside.
The homeowner said he fired a gun at the person climbing into his home, causing the burglar to fall back outside, deputies said.

Nothing in anyone's house is worth attempting to break into and steal when faced with the chance of getting yourself killed by someone defending thier home.....try getting a legitimate J.O.B.

Sounds like a good shoot. One less dead beat on the streets

"Gunman and three victims are killed and seven others injured after shooting inside classroom at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida - just two days after Pearl Harbor attack left three dead"

What does the naval shooting have to do with the homeowner defending his property? If you want to discuss or debate the Naval shooting you would be better served to start a separate thread on the issue versus trying to derail this one.

Oh, its that easy? There are never enough jobs for everybody. So jsut "go get a job" isn't a given. Simple minded people don't comprehend that. Then you have that fact most jobs don't even pay enough to survive. What a stupid statement. Yeah, criminal behavior sucks nad is no good, but what do you expect when you let the rich take all the wealth and everybody else has to fight for scraps. The more poverty and people struggling,t he more people will turn to crime to survive

The thief sucks, but seriously, if we don't address the causes of crime realistically, nothing will change

It's a counter story to to evil that guns do.

And that on a military base
And 2 days after another shooting on a military base in Pearl Harbor

And what good did it do ?

That's the point-guns are banned on those installations for anyone but specified government operatives. that is what you want in society as a whole

So the law that bans gun ownership is easily cicumvented....so ban the guns in the first place.

Start with banning their manufacture and supply and ban the supply of ammunition.
Then ban the ownership of guns.

Yes it will take time to "drain the swamp"

And yes it's unfair on tens of millions of gun owners who I'm sure are nice people and their guns would never hurt a fly.

Guns don't do evil or good. They are simply tools. It's the person using the tool that is evil or good.

Most military installations impose the kind of gun control you favor. Your like just proves the kinds of control you want are not effective in reducing gun violence in any significant way.

Guns are not the problem, it is something that has changed in our society that is. Until we can figure out what's changed and address that any gun control is akin to using a bandaid to treat cancer.

There is very real gun control on Naval Stations.

You do know that.

Right?

It doesn't look like it was very "real" now does it ?

Exactly his point.

That banning guns from places like schools or naval bases doesn't work ?

So the only way to keep guns out (that's privately owned guns) is to ban their ownership.

Your precious and blood soaked 2nd amendment ?

What's your plan for banning the "evil" people ?

I would hope all are, it doesn't seem to work at US Naval bases though does it

So your plan is to "change society" and in the mean time let these "evil" people kill as the wish ?

Oh, it's very real. On some bases it is a court-martial offense to have a weapon on base (rifle range, guard duty, etc excepted)

Your disdain for the Constitution is noted.

That's very interesting since usually the first words out of the mouth of a gun owner's mouth, when presented with a (hypothetical) gun ban, is that criminals don't obey the law.

There might be lots of rules against it, but experience this week suggests that on US naval bases, such laws appear ineffectual.

Disdain for the whole Constitution now ?

For criticizing one amendment ?

Talk about goal posts and intentional dishonesty....that's as big a straw man as can be made.

Criminals don't obey the law.

They are called criminals for a reason.

The recent shooting underlines that concept.

The base ban affected the law abiding. Disarming only the innocent.

So laws are ineffectual ?

I agree.

All gun control is a half measure unless accompanied with a gun ban.

Laws are often ineffectual in preventing murder. They are effective at punishing the act.

And we know you want to ban all guns.

That really doesn't stop mass shootings does it as most mass shooters end up dead and most know in advance they're not going to survive.

Mass shootings in the USA occur almost daily.

Yep, only a gun ban (similar to that in the UK) will suffice in cutting down gun crime.
