Clearly, the unknown factor in such a criminal enterprise is "What if these people are armed and defend themselves"....

BENTON HARBOR, MI – A man shot and killed an armed intruder late Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Briarwood Apartments, Benton Township police said.
Seven people, including three children, were in the apartment but none of them were hurt in the shootout

Before anyone cares to comment on my cavalier attitude regarding the removal from the gene pool of the unlucky bullet stopper....no, I do not care.

Many, many, many people agree with you.

A big orchid to the man who helped make this country at least a teeny bit safer.

What about these people ?

"For the last five years, the victims of gun violence in the US have increasingly been young adults and children....since 2009, 3.8 percent more children and babies under 14 have been killed by guns each year.
And for people between ages 15 and 44, deaths have surged by over 10 percent each year since 2014, according to the new Boston University study...
...between 1999 and then, death rates held steady.
...but between 2014 and 2016, firearm mortality surged by 7.2 percent each year.

The increase during that period was even more dramatic among certain groups, including those between ages 15 and 44 and black Americans, among whom firearm deaths increased by a staggering 12.6% in a year.
It's homicides and non-fatal gunshots that concern Dr Kalesan...the predominant factor that she suspects drives this pattern is money....and the poverty gap...

...we see that gun violence is part of the "diseases of despair,"' alongside suicide, drug overdoses and alcoholism...

your desired laws would have prevented the honest citizen from protecting himself while not stopping the harm that you pretend motivates your constant attacks on our rights

No they wouldn't

He could have protected himself without guns

(or if he really needed to, adopt the firearms that even British gun laws allow, yet the British seldom need to use).

your understanding of self defense needs work. Read Massad Ayoob's book THE TRUTH ABOUT SELF DEFENSE. you think you are going to win an altercation with an armed criminal while you are unarmed? or two or three tough punks right out of a tough penitentiary?

No, yours does if the only means of self defense you can think of is pulling a gun.

credible proof needed for that-but at age 60 and having had knee, shoulder and elbow surgeries, I realize, that despite years of martial arts, stick fighting, knife techniques etc, a gun is my best defense against the usual people who engage in violent crime.

What would you do if you are forced to watch your wife being raped at gunpoint?

After a self proclaimed 30-year career in prosecution.

Nope, I boast no suck skills, nor would I ever try I pretend I did during a hypothetical mugging.

I'd hand over my wallet and walk away like a sensible person would and report the incident.

Don't tell me you'd pull your Colt .45 (because you don't like calibers that don't star with a 4) and be your own social justice warrior ?

If I had a gun, I would have shot them before they do anything.

Rich wants people like you to be unarmed so that violent criminals won't face being shot

...or non violent ones...or violent and non-violent citizens and anyone in the USA.

And that includes suicides.

To pretend that a firearm isnt a very good solution to many self-defense scenarios is 100% dishonest.

The examples are many but one that comes to mind is a couple in their 30s walking on a Seattle street. A random man (mentally ill?) stabbed the woman 11 times. The man tried to intercede, and was also stabbed and died.

If he'd had a firearm, he could have stopped that attack. It's possible just drawing it would have stopped it, altho since the attack seemed irrational from the start, that's hard to say.

Again, what's up with the ad hominem attacks?

Because you insist on making BS boasts about your machismo

...do suicides require guns?

No, but in the USA they're the preferred choice probably because they're so easy to use and they are also the most effective by some distance.

Nah I wasn't boasting. If there's no gun available, then I would try to use what's available to me, such as knife.

Also jumping off the roof is as effective.

BS

Excuse 2.2

You end up shooting a neighbor's kid or a family member far more often than an intruder according to statistics.

How does a fire arm stop being stabbed...you mean shoot the knifeman as you bleed out ?

He COULD have had a firearm, but didn't. Your solution would be for every person in the USA to go around armed - felons too.
How do you explain European attacks or lack of - does the USA have a monopoly on psychopaths ?

The last one was two days ago...it's almost one per day.

Gun grabbers always like to play fast and loose with these statistics. The largest numbers of "children" who die from gun related deaths are actually young gang members---many as young as 11 and 12 years old, and then on up to age 18. In terms of young adults (18-23) the same as true too.... gang activity.

Many children die every year from accidents, sometimes due to negligent gun owners; however, these numbers are slight, and no more significant than children who die in automobile accidents or swimming pool drownings due to negligent adults.

And be shot dead...it's not a video game for you to restart

Source ?

You want a source that jumping off rooftops will most certainly result in death?
