You Guys Can Exhale Now!

What a bizarre statistic and I'm wondering how you know that.

I saw a show that was basically premised on Darwin awards. Only two people have been (and one of the shooters was a cop) murdered by legally owned machine guns in that time period and there were several cases of people getting buggered by horses and dying from the experience

Oh my God I don't even want to Google that the depths of human depravity never ceases to amaze me.

more people have-in the last 80 years, died by being boned by stallions than have been murdered by someone using a legally possessed, privately owned machine gun
Don't bring facts to a gun rights fight.

1. None of the democrats are calling for bans on machine guns. They are calling for bans on semiautomatic firearms under the guise of an assault weapon bans.

2.Yes I am for allowing civilians to own machine guns.

I am calling for a ban on all guns.

Does that include the Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock ?

are you ignorant of the fact that he didn't have any legally owned machine guns-or any machine guns for that matter?

Fitted with bump stocks, they act like machine guns. ;)

When I was a pro USPSA shooter I could act like a machine gun as could most of the other Grandmaster Level shooters. But I cannot help it if Rich doesn't understand the law. BTW the bump stocks probably meant LOWER deaths.

I disagree, given the LV shooter was shooting into a concentrated mass of people with barriers around them. Fish in a barrel comes to mind.

Depends on his skill level. But we both agree that the Vegas Environment was a real outlier in terms of a shooting environment. In ten minutes, with ten rifles, with that many targets, someone with target discipline (ie the guy who upon flushing a covey of quail picks one bird before moving to another, rather than shooting at the entire flock) most likely could have killed well over 100. An amateur you might be right. But several shotguns loaded with 000 buck would have been really brutal. Even worse, if Paddock fueled one of his planes up and flew it into the crowed at 200 MPH

What’s the effective range of a shotgun loaded with 000? Wasn’t the hotel window in the 400 yard range from the concert venue?

you're assuming he wouldn't have booked a closer room. Triple Ought buck can kill at 100 yards

a 000 buckshot pellet weighs slightly more than 50 grains. That is heavier than your average 22 Long rifle cartridge

the average 22 shoots between 1090 and 1250 FPS 000 Buck from a hot load is over 1300 FPS
So ONE pellet from a load of buckshot is heavier and faster than a high velocity 22LR cartridge

Thats a good point. This guy had the means to do a lot more damage. Why did he choose this way? Further proof that the gun isnt the problem, crazy people are.

So we're lucky Paddock didn't have more training with guns.

You're happy to let people own 7.62mm belt fed machine guns....until someone really massacres a large crowd ?

He had something very similar that was capable of automatic fire.

that really doesn't matter. and a good shooter without bumb stocks could have killed far more people by actually aiming. Automatic fire is used to suppress movement or defensive fire, or to break contact when delivered with hand held weapons. aimed fire is what one uses to engage targets

people do own those things and have so since they were invented. No one has ever been murdered in the USA with a legally owned (by private citizen)belt fed machine gun. No one has ever been murdered by a private citizen using a legally owned Assault Rifle Either.

Paddock knew the police would be breaking down his hotel room door very soon and wanted to get rounds off.

He had a tripod too, glad he had a relatively weak semi-automatic firearm instead of one designed to fire 7.62mm NATO

So you'd rather wait until one does.

Are you sure about the assault rifle claim ?

no he didn't. those firearms were not capable of automatic fire

yep, the two weapons I am aware of that were used to murder and were legally owned were a Mac-11 SMG and an UZI SMG I believe.

They were with a buttstock.

How do you explain the automatic fire coming from the Mandalay hotel ?

"The Madison County shooter who critically wounded one deputy and injured another in a shootout with law enforcement Thursday was equipped with two fully automatic rifles, two officials said.
It is extremely unusual for a fully automatic weapon to be used in a crime say ATF officials...
...no statistics detailing automatic vs. semiautomatic weapons used in crimes exist, since 1934 there are only four known instances of automatic weapons used in crimes where someone was killed. In three of those instances the weapons were legally obtained, with two of them illegally used by law enforcement officers...
"

MS deputies shot with rare, fully automatic rifles, officials say

there was no automatic fire in Las Vegas. And your report talks about three cases of legally owned Auto firearms, I knew of a couple

IN other words, there was no legitimate reason for Democrats to ban people buying such weapons made after May 19, 1986 given ONLY one case of a private citizen. there are hundreds of thousands of legally owned automatics by private citizens

Yes there was - Paddock had and used "bump stocks"

"Authorities say Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock used a dozen 'bump stock' devices during his rampage Sunday night that left 58 dead and hundreds injured..."

So ban semi automatic guns but don't ban fully automatic, is that what you're proposing

And the gun lobby calls Democrats "stupid". Congrats for the most idiotic post of the day.

SMH.
