The USA has too many gun deaths and wounds...because it has so many guns.
The gun control lobby's argument in a nutshell
More firearms = more gun deaths and injuries.
10,000 gun related homicides and 70,000+ injuries per year doesn't sound like the USA is as safe a place as you pretend it is
How else would you deal with the problem ?
How would you stop violent or stupid people being violent or stupid ?
Take away their guns and they're not as dangerous.
No more than a car, unattended, is going to run me over
No we have a problem with gun use
10k homicides, 70k+ injuries and mass shootings at almost one per day isn't a problem ?
I'd make them safer
Stay on topic
How many Japanese v Americans survive suicide attempts (I'd be willing to bet it's the Japanese)
If you're suicidal, and have a gun in the house, it's easier to attempt suicide and harder to survive an attempt
It's hard to think of a country with LESS gun control than the USA
That may be true
Are you suggesting that if violent and stupid people in the UK had guns, there would be less violent crime ?
If gang members had guns instead of knives ?
So bans the guns found to be responsible for gun deaths and injuries as well....then do your study
Are you arguing for legalizing cocaine (and for that matter meth, LSD and heroin) ?
Sounds like you accept guns are a "social problem"
But banning guns is a lot easier than banning alcohol when booze can be imported and even made in the back yard with a crude still. Try making a gun in your back yard or illegally smuggling a lump of plastic and metal into the USA
Excuse 3.1
They wouldn't be "law abiding" if they refused to obey a law to hand in their guns though.
I would imagine quite a lot of people would refuse and they'd face stiff fines - fines that'd go a long way to paying for the police/ATF operation to search and seize guns.
Guns would also become more and more useless as the supply of ammunition is turned off.
More gun deaths, not necessarily a violent country overall with so much peaceful rural/nature areas
Syria is a war zone - or haven't you heard ?
Move to a war zone ?
Would you tell, if you could, the 1776 founding fathers to move to another country if they didn't like the conditions here? If not why not? Then rethink your advice for the gun control lobby to relocate.
You mean evidence from English speaking, predominantly Anglo-Saxon countries like the USA that have recent experience in banning guns
Like the UK and Australia ?
