Gun owners need to be reeled in. Their "right" to own guns without accountability has gone on long enough. This is the beginning of a reasonable and fair list, but it is certainly not complete. Help me reel in these loose canons, gun owners, who do not seem to care about much besides their guns.

Automatic registration of weapon upon purchase

Failure to register your existing weapon = loss of weapon.
Failure to pass a gun safety course = loss of weapon or blocked access to buying said weapon
Failure to have a weapon owner list (history of owners for specific weapon) = loss of weapon
Misplacement or lack of knowledge of location of weapon upon re-registration = loss of weapon

That is a good idea too... gun safety course every five years... don't pass = loss of weapon

This is actual accountability and very reasonable. The problem is that gun nuts have been allowed unfettered access to killing devices with no accountability for far too long... they are now arrogant, hostile and defensive... a really bad combination for people of guns to have.

What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?

Anti-vaxxers should be registered too.

Don't mask your desire to limit peoples ability to exercise a right you don't want them to have as accountability. Be honest about wishing to deny people their rights if you desire your opinion to be respected.

There's nothing reasonable about that.

This sounds about as reasonable as, say, all those requirements some States used to have to "help" Black citizens vote.

1. Can't read? Can't vote.
2. Can't write? Can't vote.
3. Aren't able to answer questions when tested about "important knowledge?" Can't vote.
4. Can't pay a "poll tax?" Can't vote.

Of course voting wasn't guaranteed by the Constitution, so it made all that okay, right?

To be plain, NOTHING in your list is "reasonable" when it comes to the RIGHT to keep and bear arms.

It sounds more like the "reasonable" wish-list of disarmament proponents, each a step toward eventual confiscation.

Well with you looking after us and giving us Royal Decrees , we have nothing to fear. OH get off your soapbox. You mind you guns and we'll mind ours. You see you have a hopped up monarch or some such that says jump and you ask how high.

The part where it also adds, that gun owners should be part of a well regulated militia... even if that was not a fact I don't care one bit about "shall not be infringed" because there is no way they could have anticipated semi-auto and automatic weapons, body armor, mass shootings, Apache helicopters, etc. Times have changed from the 1700's in case you missed it.

You mind your smallpox and all mind mine... great logic.

By all means, lobby your Congressman and Senator to start the process to the repeal the 2nd Amendment. The rest of this is a waste of valuable electrons.

The Constitution doesn't say that...lol

See my above post about the "right" to bear arms...

You mean this standard response that we have seen and debunked time and time again?

The fact is your false assumptions about the relationship between a militia and this right have not only been debunked time and time again, but we now have TWO SCOTUS rulings which hold it is not a right tied to a militia requirement.

Hmm... according to its serial number, that there is a 1989 gun so you must provide us with everyone who owned that gun since it was initially sold new. Nope, stating that you bought it from some guy calling himself Corn Pop, behind the 7-11, for $300 cash, about six years ago will not suffice - registration attempt denied, surrender that gun to us or face felony charges. Since you spent $100 and passed the gun safety course last month you can, of course, buy a new gun but we suggest never buying a used gun unless you can provide records of its complete past ownership history - a tough nut to crack, indeed, since gun registration history just became the law last year.

How has it been debunked?

I don't care what SCOTUS says about it... I can read too. Not to mention SCOTUS gets it wrong too... how about that Plessy Decision?

Yes it does... bye!

Let's see...

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Nope...nothing there about "should be part of a well regulated militia".

And you wonder why gun owners have become so entrenched. :lamo

I don't see anything wrong with that other than buying a gun from behind 7-11 with no knowledge of who had it before... what honest person would do that?

I would agree with all your points IF the 2nd amendment had something about "Well-Regulated" in it's reading. But alas..it doesn't. Sorry..

The 2nd Amendment doesn't say gun owners should be part of a well regulated militia.

In any case, you'll need to change the Constitution if you want to infringe upon the right to keep and bear arms.
