Colt suspends production of AR-15 rifles for civilian market

Since most on the left havent yet accepted that he won in 2016, its not hard to imagine that the kooks on the left will take up arms when he wins again in 2020.

that would be as amusing as it would be short lived. Think of the Social media Meme:

one side has 40 million semi auto rifles and a trillion rounds of ammunition-the other side eats Tide Pods and cannot figure out what public toilet to use

It will? And what's going to happen?

You will see. Your pathetic religious coalition is the real reason liberals and others are leaving the faith. In true iconoclast fashion you guys are destroying your religion.

Your time will come to see the end of this charade and the ashes of its rememberance

I think your side loses if violence is used

No one is bringing up violence except you. Your side has done this since Clinton was first elected. Your side is doing this now if Trump loses. Your side has threatened violence against LEOs if they enforce state’s rights laws.

so tell me Linc, what this comment (I was responding to) means

A Led Zeppelin song or a threat of violence?

:screwy

In the past, people would buy Colts because they wanted something as close to the military issue that they could buy without the Class III BS. That no longer is the case since FNH in SC, makes the military rifles

Then shouldn't they be buying an M16 from Matel instead of Colt? ;)

What my comment means is this. This djt presidency and the supremacy of conservative Christendom as a voter bloc will coms to an end. The bloc itself is killing itself slowly. The coupling of Republican politics with Christendom has resulted in a flood of people leavijg the faith.

In their hubris they claim this is because the culture is bad. No. Its because Christian conservative evangelicals have become insufferable hypocrites and shameful lapdogs.

Since people are leaving the faith in droves my comment is a warning. Their faith is becoming more radical and because of its union with politics it has become insufferable to the majority of americans.

So my warning is this. Keep it up. Keep voting in people who blend conservatism and radical evanfelist bigotry. They havw become iconoclasts at last. Without a single shot fired they will slowly dwindle into nothingness.

Here it comes...

People who actually own AR 15s haven't been buying colts in years. They were overpriced for what you got and their use of non-standard trigger pins made customizing them a bit of a pain. I bought a colt in the last 10 years-gave it to a friend. They weren't junk but overpriced. People like you and Beta O'Dork are going to sell several more million AR 15s in the next few months

Mine is an M&P Sport 2 and I love it. No defects and runs any amo I put through it. Colt is overpriced so they want to just bow out of the market altogether then good riddance imo.

The guys who run TDI in Adams county, have semi auto rifle classes. They said, of the standard brands, the SWs tend to be the most reliable. My favorites are locally made HM Defense. They have a new bolt that apparently is much more reliable than the standard things. I also run Faxon Firearms 9mm bolts in my PCC race guns and just bought two FAXON BCGs for some of my ARs. I have some colts from the early 80s-when they were basically the only decent brand. I have an Original H-Bar and one of the later H-bars with the removable handle. 12 years ago or so, I bought a RRA national match rifle-its a better service rifle competition rig.

Colt made very high quality ar-15's, however they had their own standard and have sold poorly. If I remember correctly most ar-15's use the bushmaster standard which is nearly 100% compatible with the colt military standard, while colt made their own civilian standard, making accessories very awkward. Plus a lower end colt was around 900 bucks while a lower end name most other brands was 400 bucks, colt was trying to sell hyundais at bmw prices and the truth is their market share was terrible because of it, they were great for the military market but their civilian offerings were so garbage and there are many competitors outdoing them.

Good! Colt has made really crappy firearms for the last 50 years. They have been a failing company for decades. I would never own a Colt firearm manufactured after 1950. There are thousands of other AR sources all over the world, so it isn't like they are going to be missed. My AR, for example, originated from the Turkish company Akdal Arms.

Colt made actually very high quality arms, their problem was ditching the civilian market for govt contracts. Revolvers like the python were super high value since the demand for them never siezed but profuction did around the 80's, now colt is trying to get back into the civilian market after losing govt contracts, but seem to be doing poorly like they are still stuck on govt pricing of 80 bucks for a hammer everyone else paid 20 bucks for, heck since the 80's they focused on govt contracts and now stuck in a civilian market none of their leadership has a clue about.

No they didn't. Colt has made garbage since at least the 1950s. The revolvers they made were in high demand because they were dirt cheap, and you always get what you pay for. The rounds I fire through my Ruger would completely blow apart a Colt. Colt has been substandard for 70 years, much like Smith & Wesson. I wouldn't own their crap either.

The end of assault weapons in the public market.

1.Colt isn't the only maker of AR15 modern sporting rifles.

2.As long as anti-2nd amendment trash will call for their ban the 2nd amendment advocates will run out and more "assault weapons". All you are doing by screaming for bans on semiautomatic firearms is ensure firearm makers sell more.

Colt did not make dirt cheap revolvers, they were always more expensive than smith and wesson and ruger for comparable models, and were pretty big sellers until the 80's when they failed to offer anything substantial in the semi auto market to compete withguns like the berretta m-9 and various glock models, and were pretty much on the 1911 which they sold at a much higher cost than anyone else. By the 80's they were already exiting the civilian market, by the mid-2000's they stopped revolver sales except a few limited runs of the peacemaker and models like the 1860.

The only rounds a ruger will fire that will blow up a colt are hot 45 super loads, which ruger and thompson are the only makers who make revolvers capable of firing them, and they are vastly more powerful than the standard .45 colt loads even though they look identical.

well that's just plumb stupid. and you gun banners keep expanding that term. If they are in common use, and not unusually dangerous, they are protected. How about you make a sane and logical argument why an AR 15 is more dangerous than rifles the government sold us citizens by the truckloads. I don't know about you jet, but someone with a Garand and basic military training can cause a lot more damage than someone with an AR 15.
