Colt suspends production of AR-15 rifles for civilian market

My wife has several AR platforms, but not a single one of Colt manufacture....she refused to pay absurd prices when other companies would turn out quality work for less.

I don't know how big a deal that really is. The AR market is totally flooded and Colt's share of it was minuscule to begin with. They lost their military contract 5 years ago and never really were a big player in the civilian rifle market.[/Q

A store here in Arizona sold out its entire stock of AR's in 4 hours after they announced a Beto sale.

So the market can't be too saturated....

As others have pointed out Colt only makes a small fraction of the AR15 modern sporting rifles. There are lots of manufactures out there who make the AR15 modern sporting rifle platform. So you and your fellow anti-2nd amendment libs shouldn't cheer just yet.

If you really want the sales of AR15 modern sporting rifles and so called assault weapons to go down then you need to tell your fellow libs to shut the **** up about banning guns. Because every time someone screams for a ban. Sales go up. Thanks to Bill Clinton and various anti-2nd amendment states they have proved that you people are serious about banning semiautomatic firearms under the guise of an assault weapons ban and will do it. The whole "gun lubers are just paranoid" line that anti-2nd amendment trash love to spew won't work. In 2007 we had around 270 million firearms in the hands of civilians, that went up to 393 million in 2018. Keep screaming for more bans and that number will probably go up to 500 million in ten years.

I know. If idiots start shooting off their toes over Tweety, I'm getting the **** out of this clown show.

If he loses, I cannot imagine some of them accepting the election.

It is unfortunate how facts mean little to nothing for so many people. They decide the conclusion that want to reach, then back fill that conclusion by asserting whatever facts would fit it.

This is the actual reason why Colt stopped sales of the AR15:

Colt Wins $57M Foreign Military Sales Contract for M4 Carbines

Few people will pay a higher price for a Colt AR15 when it is no different from any other brand. With this massive foreign contract, Colt likely has to shift all production to meet the contracts - and civilian sales has become so low there was no reason to continue that production line anyway.

Colt markets its reputation from the past, not its quality in the present. The "Colt" name can be marketed worldwide, not just in the USA. Colt and Remington both totally saturated the market in commemorative editions a couple decades ago and still tries to, but there are so many manufacturers - large and small - that produce so many different styles and various upgrades that the civilian market in the USA is exceptionally competitive.

I dont believe Colt ever made the AR15 for the military market. ;)

The fact that gun control zealots are getting all excited about this and calling it a victory just goes to show how clueless and/or dishonest they are.

$60 in 1964 was equivalent to almost $500 today. No big surprise there.

Kinda like you all did when he got elected?

I accepted it. Doesn't mean his win is legitimate. Asking Ukraine for help in 2020 sort of undermines him.

That's the same as not accepting the result...lol

I'm not the one harping on 2016. you guys are. Every other post, whenever Trump is VALIDLY criticized, your defense is this preposterous, braindead, childish appeal to not accepting the election.

It's garbage, you know it.

We're simply pointing out how Leftists haven't accepted the 2016 results.

It seems you guys don't accept it, or don't believe it to be true.

Get over it.

It's 2019 and the Trump administration is ACTIVELY breaking the law against whistleblowers.

Totally disgusting.

If he loses, I cannot imagine some of them accepting the election.

Since most on the left havent yet accepted that he won in 2016, its not hard to imagine that the kooks on the left will take up arms when he wins again in 2020.
