Georgia homeowner fatally shoots 3 teens in masks who tried to rob him, sheriff'''s office says | Fox News
The teenagers — ages 15, 16 and 16 — approached the residence in Conyers, a city roughly 25 miles southeast of Atlanta, with their faces covered in masks, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.
The trio "attempted to rob three individuals in the front yard" of the home, and one of the teenagers "brandished a gun and fired shots" at those in the front yard.
All they wanted was a little pocket money, and some damn idiot gun toting "home owner" decided he had the right to be Judge, Jury and Executioner and end three, young lives over some petty material goods. When are we going to stop the madness and ensure the safety and lives of young teens is more important that "privileged " homeowners stuff?

You can't bring back the dead, you can get insurance to replace your stuff. Guns never do anyone any good! 3 Lives ended for... stuff! MADNESS!!!

Oh and before anyone thinks I've lost my damned mind... I wrote that with a purpose. There are people out there, that think like that. Don't believe me???

"That's not how it’s supposed to go. I understand one shot to stop the people, the victims or whatever, but aggressively to shoot these little teens, that's overkill. That's too much to handle,” said an unidentified male, who was reportedly related to one of the teens who died.

Deputies say the teenagers, two of whom were brothers, were wearing masks, as they approached a Conyers, Georgia, residence and attempted to rob three people in the front yard.

One of the suspects allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot at the intended victims, and a man returned fire, hitting all three teens.

I'm sorry, your friend, or relative is dead, but when you pull a gun on someone and start popping off shots... you risk a negative outcome. In this case three teens took the room temp challenge... Is it terrible that they had to die over what was, a really bad series of choices? Yep, but they CHOSE to rob another person, they CHOSE to threaten others lives with a weapon, so they created this situation and they paid the price for their sheer stupidity.

Cute, but perhaps using intruders who did not fire rounds at their intended victims would be a better OP link.

I am left leaning, but they would have been shot by me.

Take my things fine, threaten my life, no.

Sometimes you play with fire and get burned.

They failed to understand the risks and the possibility of others reactions.

Stupidity killed them, as it does every day.

They took a risk and it did not work out.

Nah I had read the other article first and the idiots saying "that's over kill" really irked me so I had to mock them my way.

Darwin award winners. The armed citizen probably saved the taxpayers close to several million dollars over the next 50 years

I would say that this was a pretty serious game, and they won the most serious prize of them all.

Yeah, some people think that they were kids and therefore deserve less punishment. Really a dumb way of looking at it. What do they want people to do? stand there and get shot? They way I see it is if you don't want your kid to get shot robbing someone teach them not to rob people.

It is not "overkill" to shoot armed robbers on your property. If one did not want to be shot dead then they should not have selected armed robbery as their (brief) career choice. It seems that "plata o plomo" works both ways.

Had me for a bit. Because I'm going WTF? I see why you did it.

Hehehe I was really pissed at that second article, as I read it first and the people they were on video interviewing were idiots. "Why'd he have to kill them..." Gee maybe because they were shooting at him first? Idiots.

And they are always such great little kids who would never do such a thing. They were probably members of the same gang.

This answers the question: "why do you need that?"

Did the kids really try to rob while brandishing a firearm and shooting?

What am I missing. If you had three people with masks and a gun coming toward me and one was shooting.....what would you do? Ask them on a play date?

If there is more to the story, I would be interesting in hearing it.

Unless something else comes out, these three tried to rob the homeowner, and they fired first. People actually were mad the homeowner defended his life and property.

Gotchya.

If I was armed and someone was coming at me in a mask with a gun (whether they even shot first or not) they would not be living to tell the tale.

I'm thinking there's a lot more to this story than what has been reported... but if not, then I tend to agree with you - once you pull, then all bets are off.

Police found the perps with masks, and all the initial evidence points to thugs learning the hard way that they are not in fact, as tough as they thought they were.

Yeah... a bunch of people standing around outside at 4 in the morning, all armed to the teeth? Nothing fishy there.

I don't know one way or the other... could be the kids were trying to steal a vehicle and they were interrupted by the home owners who heard them, armed themselves and went outside to investigate. Or it could be a drug deal gone bad. I do know that pending the conclusion of the police investigation, all of the accounts of what happened are going to be necessarily one-sided.

I often see a mother on TV crying and grieving for her "little baby." Maybe if she had taught her "little baby" to behave, he would still be alive.

The next day, of course, the grieving mother will consult an attorney to see whom she can sue. Some juries will be very, very generous.

The mother failed as a parent and her trying to divert to claiming the 3 teens should have been allowed to murder the 3 people at the residence shows just how bad a parent she is.

Another lesson among many is that parents should police who their children, including teenagers, associate with. We require knowing where are children are at all times, who they are with at all times, and we have veto power over any friendship, association or otherwise social interact. This means not only meeting the other kids, but often meeting their parents too. While it is rare we 100% veto personal interaction, it does happen.

Nor is it just talk. If away from home, they better be with exactly who they say they are with exactly where they say they are doing exactly what they claim. We do check randomly and punishment for non-compliance is pre-announced. Once a rule is set and punishment for breaking it set (we do NO corporal or embarrassment punishment) it is set in stone. It is critical that parents are 100% consistent 100% of the time. Any negotiation or discussion happens before, not after. Afterwards is too late.

We are hyper helicopter parents, while at the same time increasingly forcing them to socially interact and otherwise engage in activities - social, employment, volunteer, school projects - outside of the home.

I have little doubt that if investigated it would be found that mother just let her kid run the streets all night long with anyone, having not clue with who, where or why. That not-giving-a-damn by her is one factor that evolved to this outcome.
