This is what the right doesn't get about gun control

President Bush (the first one) had no problem banning assault rifles... You seeing a pattern here...

So during this so called ban... did at any point was their confiscation?

And... I thought it was Clinton?

What does it matter? Dead is dead, and the gun is the most commonly used and most efficient deadly weapon. America is suffering an epidemic and all I hear is whining; 'but the Constitution...'

Thanks Beto for admitting that you want to take everyone's guns away.

Actually, the answer is to not let dangerous people run around loose. In most all cases, these people have been arrested numerous times or have had enough warning flags that they could be arrested. In fact, we have done exactly that several times is the last few months, preventing several mass murders.

Hi! And thank you for taking time to reply. Directing your attention to the first two sentences in your statement quoted above, I note for your consideration that over 60% of gun deaths in the United States of America are suicides.

Regards.

It has been an epidemic since records began in the 1920s. The Constitution has many fine and laudable contents, but relying on a completely anachronistic 'right' (2nd Amendment), which has no relevance in 2019 as a touchstone, and only works in the context of the far off days of parity in arms between government and citizenry. That was over 200 years ago when each 'side' had access to muzzle loaders and not much else.
Today the citizens have the equivalent of pop-guns against hugely more powerful, better trained, better equipped and motivated government forces. The 2nd. is pointless.

This is the trouble with the left's argument. They constantly talk about "common sense" gun control legislation, and yet every word coming out or their mouths screams of taking everyone's guns away. That just ain't happenin. No way, no how. It's beyond fantasy.

Dead from gunshot is just as dead. Argue dot connection as much as you want. Americans shoot themselves with enthusiasm more than any other advanced nation. What a badge of honour to wear with pride.

Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that you have become dictator of the US. What is it you want to do regarding guns?

What every other civilized western nation has done-and done effectively. Why would a dramatic decrease in firearm-related death and mutilation be a problem?

Seems to work in every other advanced nation with stringent firearms legislation, yet America seems uniquely impotent and/or unwilling to address what is clearly an enormous problem.

Every other advanced nation doesn't already have millions and millions of guns in circulation. What you propose is to take away guns from law abiding citizens while the bad guys get to keep theirs. And, you want to let the bad guys out of jail to boot. We do have the second amendment. What realistic thing is it you think you can do when there are already millions, if not billions, of guns already in circulation? And I mean realistic, not fantasy land. Your fantasies don't interest me as I've got much better ones than you do.

How many well-regulated militias are you aware of?

I don't blame you for not understanding the US Constitution. I don't understand the British Constitution, either.

Exactly. But, if we took everyone's guns away, then these people wouldn't be able to commit suicide, or so the left seem to think.
