Biden brags he is the only one who beat the NRA-and see that is important-Beating the NRA-not stopping crime. He never notes that the Brady bill and the Clinton gun ban didn't do squat to stop crime. Rather he is braying how the majority of people want this or that.

I commend Biden for his honesty. To him the NRA is the enemy.

Harris is asked about her promised executive orders to ban "assault weapons". Biden claims she cannot do it by executive orders. Harris ignores the constitutional problems. Rather than dealing with the law-she talks about "autopsy photos". Which makes sense-she doesn't understand the constitution. High on emotion, but zero on legal intelligence. She tries to blame Trump for the shooting.

Now its Beto the moron. Questioned about his confiscation plans. Yeah he wants to confiscate guns. He proves he is clueless about guns. Pure Emotobabbling. He just lost most of the blue collar union vote with his screams for confiscating guns. He is lying about people at gun shows whom he claimed that those wanted to ban those rifles. Klobuchar claims a "magazine ban" would have stopped those killings. She brays that she has a bill that domestic abusers cannot buy AK 47s. She is ignorant of the Lautenberg amendment.

Spartacus wants a license to buy a gun and how is he going to get that passed. He ignores the constitution. Admits the NRA is his real enemy and he wants to fight them. He dodges the question if he can get a Republican to support his licensing requirement. He wants to OVERWHELM the Republicans and the CORPORATE gun lobby.

Warren is questioned about what she can get done with Republicans. "We have a gun violence problem". "I like REGISTRATION". Claims that CORRUPTION is preventing getting something done and wants to ROLL BACK THE FILIBUSTER!
Wants to attack the gun industry.

Sanders-opposes getting rid of the filibuster. But he wants to pass socialist health care. Corrupt political system-blaming drug companies, fuel companies, and the NRA. Proud to have an F rating from the NRA.

Latino questioner changed the discussion to immigration after that

Bottom line-everyone of these candidates want to CONFISCATE LEGALLY OWNED FIREARMS

Of course.

If your analysis is true (I have no interest in watching these debates myself) then those of us who consistently assert registration and confiscation are the ultimate goals of the left...have just been proven true.

One has to disarm anyone posing even the slightest possibility of armed resistance to central control. Once this is accomplished, then you can impose diktats and enforce them regardless. Following the model that almost every other truly socialist or communist society has repeatedly demonstrated.

I typed my post over several minutes as I listened to the star wars bar scene patrons talk. When Beta , er Beto, said yes he wants to confiscate legally owned firearms, he got a huge round of applause. The NRA and Trump need to use that in advertisements no matter which bar patron is the nominee because all of the candidates supported it

Given this whole recent event with Beto wanting to have credit card companies to refuse service for "assault weapon sales" he's pretty much going as full authoritarian, as he can at this point.

In reality, the so-called “gun show loophole” is a myth. It does not exist. There is no loophole in federal law that specifically exempts gun show transactions from any other laws normally applied to gun sales. Not one.

If you purchase a firearm from a federal firearms licensee (FFL) regardless of the location of the transaction — a gun store, a gun show, a gun dealer’s car trunk, etc. — that FFL must confirm that you are legally allowed to purchase that gun. That means the FFL must either run a background check on you via the federal NICS database, or confirm that you have passed a background check by examining your state-issued concealed carry permit or your government-issued purchase permit. There are zero exceptions to this federal requirement.

I wish the socialists would secede. Just take the (Soviet) Union states, the west coast, Hawaii, Guam, USVI, PR and go. Give the United States the Confederate states, Indian Territory, and Alaska.

Nope. I saw the debates too; I heard the exaggerations. None of that will work. O'rouke isn't going to win, Harris isn't going to win and nobody's taking anybody's guns away. Don't be an alarmist.

Merely pointing out (if the OP's assessment was correct) that yes, many on the Left do desire disarming citizens when they talk about "reasonable gun control."

IMO all this talk about reasonable gun control is merely a design for the death of citizen gun ownership by a 1000 cuts. :shrug:

IMO only those who lose their rights by due process of law; and even in those cases only so long as their punishment lasts.

So, a person adjudged guilty of crime and been incarcerated has no right while incarcerated. This can continue while the punishment runs it's course (i.e. until probation/parole ends).

Also a person who has been legally determined mentally unfit has no right while still so identified.

Other than those exceptions? Not so much, no.

I am not calling for anything, although I agree that being labeled a "felon" is no excuse for depriving anyone of their rights after their due punishment has been served and they have "paid" for their crimes.

The right of self-defense is inherent, and self-enforcing. When someone is in a penal or mental institution, it becomes the OBLIGATION of the State to protect them while incarcerated. Both from others and themselves.

That responsibility devolves to the individual upon complete release. I don't see why they should not recover the same rights to self-defense as any other citizen.
