Universal BG Check Could Have Saved Lives

Take it up with your state. In my state gun owners are required to be registered. And pay a fee for that registration. BTW, you analogized your analogy with that of jaeger19. You haven't supported that his analogy is "dumb" merely by offering your own.

If all rights are the same which is his premise then if you can register voters you can register gun owners.

The logic is perfect

Take it up with your state is the best advice ever. The union is composed of several sovereign states. Each of them has its own firearms laws.

And federal gun control. Lol

You earlier claimed it was dumb. Be that as it may, in my state they can and do register both voters and gun owners.

I meant to imply the logic was dumb. Sorry for the confusion

Strange that you were able to understand my post despite it's being babble. In my defense I could keep up better if I wasn't staying in a campsite with crappy wifi. :)
OK if you say so. Made perfect sense to me. Hmm campsite on the corner of bumf*ck and nowhere, sounds good to me.;)

I know a dude whose .50 cal rifles that have nothing to do with interstate commerce. It's nice to know that no foreign government has any authority over these here firearms.

So we got that out of the way. You can in fact be subject to requirement to register to vote and also register to own a firearm. Interestingly enough, our registration law has been interpreted as applying to purchase and ownership of pneumatic pellet guns as well.

Now, look at jaeger19's analogy as a question.

Is it a violation of any of your rights to ban every firearm save one specific model?

Is it a violation of any of your rights to ban every book save one specific volume?

This one is actually right in town. Overnighters and on-the-road workers mostly. And crappy wifi.

Yes

And

Yes

Registration makes it harder for me to vote. It actually interferes with my right. I would rather just show up and vote

But it is a requirement
Or is it that you would rather show up and vote a couple dozen times? Hey why not vote for the people that don't show up? But for your candidate.

Illinois.

In the past the law has been interpreted as applying to pellet rifles. You have to show your FOID to examine a gun in a gun shop lest a zealous ATF agent decide you are in possession when the clerk hands it to you. Unless you can show him an out of state driver's license of course.

That's nice.

If registration can be required for voting it can be for gun possession

Then despite your rush to jump on the Haymarket wagon, it appears you might agree with jaeger19.

And you agree that registration can be required for guns

That's nice.

It is a fact that registration can be required for voting and can be required for gun possession. I don't know that there is an "if" involved.

And as we can see from our constitution, the several states never granted the general government any legislative power regarding the possession of firearms by the people of the several states.

Oh you will get a lot of people on here that say gun registration is unconstitutional.

I agree with you. Its not

as I said, the USSC slapped Chicago around in McDonald-need to do it to the entire state

And so it begins....lol

true, the dishonest FDR administration made up that power

Now the constitutional scholars come out. Lol
