Universal BG Check Could Have Saved Lives

Why does trump refuse to endorse this law? Is he a gun banner. I think so

Why are you asking me about what Trump refuses to do? Do I speak for him? We're talking about what Democrats want to do: i.e. pass more laws that aren't going to be enforced against actual criminals.

Yeah trump does not want to enforce this gun law. He is soft on crime and a gun banner

Trump could change this tomorrow.

He refuses to

He's obviously not very bright. Why aren't your lefty heroes demanding it? They're certainly not shy about demanding things.

Certainly no one on the right is demanding this be enforced..
..are they? Maybe we need better laws

"Better laws" that no one, right or left, will enforce. Brilliant idea.

I have a better idea: Let's pass a law allowing police to randomly search the homes of people who vote in favor of gun control up to once per month. We'll put a ten-year sunset on it, and if Dems vote to renew the law, we'll automatically ban 11+ round magazines along with the renewal.

That way you can prove your personal commitment to fighting violent crime before you impose a commitment on others.

Deal?

you're just making that up. You are assuming all or most private sellers would conduct a background check and that the government can actually enforce that. the vast majority of criminals get their firearms from people who know they are criminals and only the truly naive believe that someone willing and intending to commit mass murders are going to be deterred by a background check UNLESS those denied a firearm are then arrested for committing perjury on form 4473

The huge assumption in the OP is that if no guns were available that the perp would have never committed the crime. Why not assume he would have bought a gallon of gasoline and a match and caused far more death and destruction?

Better get your brown shirt out of the laundry first. Lol

The law Trump won't endorse. Are you referring to UBC?

Possibly because it has never been shown to have an effect on murder.

Do we need yet another useless law?

It's the current law. Everyone says just enforce the current law.

Trump refuses to put these people in jail

What, you're not willing to give up a little of your freedom to save lives? Think of all the illegal guns that we could get off the street!

C'mon, nobody "needs" to have privacy 100% of the time. Isn't 29 days a month enough privacy for you? Seriously, if you can't get all the privacy you need in 353 days per year, you probably shouldn't be trusted with your privacy. The only reason for anyone to demand privacy 100% of the time is if they have something to hide.

Good. We start with your house....unless you are hiding something???

What people? What law?

People who lie on the background check form and fail commit a federal crime. Trump has their complete address. He could arrest thousands tomorrow.

Why doesnt he?

I'm not sure BGC data is kept data is kept by the feds. It's my understanding that the state keeps the data. Here in VA for 5 years by the dealer, then it's destroyed.

If someone fails the dealer can report it to the atf for prosecution

Nope, you missed an important detail. This is an opportunity for you and other gun control advocates to put your money where your mouth is. Before you get to impose restrictions on other people (i.e. restrictions that won't affect you), you should be willing to demonstrate your own willingness to give up a little freedom. Only after you demonstrate your commitment to public safety, will we believe that you are really so motivated.

You sound like you are hiding something? Very suspicious. If it's a good plan let's start at your house.

Operative word - can. I can report it for possible prosecution.

So no, BGC info is not kept by the feds.

And no, President Trump does not have their names and addresses.

All he has to do is ask. They are required to provide it. ATF could have them tomorrow.

He doesnt want to enforce this law

Thanks for admitting publicly that you're not willing to sacrifice anything to save lives, even though you demand it of other people.

Is there anything enjoy that you'd be willing to sacrifice to save lives? Please, tell us what a great person you are.

I am a great person. But clearly you are hiding something at home.

Sounds very suspicious

For those in favor of UBC, please address this scenario:
A person with no criminal record and is of good mental health goes in to purchase a firearm. A check is run and it comes back clean. The person purchase the firearm. Time passes and something sets of the person off. They go bat crazy and shoots a bunch of people. How would a the UBC have stopped the shooting?

imo, the UBC is just one way politicians are trying to say hey public, we improved gun control. When deep down they know it will not stop anything.
