Walmart just announced that it's stepping back from gun sales and ammo sales. The story just broke but from what I heard they will no longer sell the 'assault-style' weapons and large ammo clips.

FINALLY

But where will the gun-bators be able to openly stroke their over-inflated egos in public?

Sounds like they were threatened by the radical lefty mob! If true it won't do anything to solve the crime problem committed with weapons.
All rifles are used in 1 to 2 % of all homicides in the United States. Nothing but a feel good must do something even when the something won't solve the problem.

Considering a Walmart was shot up by a guy with an AR style weapon and another moron decided to go for a stroll through one while carrying one i can understand their policy

If that's why Walmart took these steps then thank God for it. You people on the right only want to sell more guns to more people which is a totally idiotic suggestion.

You appear to piddle yourself at empty gestures.

It's all about PC virtue signalling. IOW, hollow gestures which infringe upon our liberty all while providing the illusion of safety.

I totally agree.
You want to drastically reduce the homicide rate caused by guns, then get the illegal guns off the streets in the intercity.

OH BS. It's a private company that can decide what to do or not.

FINALLY

I don't recall ever seeing "assault-style" weapons at any Wal-Mart I've ever been to.

Actually it is more about profiting off death and destruction. Sometimes I wonder how gun dealers can live with themselves.

Is this related to this: Walmart to End Sales of Assault-Style Rifles in U.S. Stores - The New York Times

No...it can't be. The NYT story is from 2015.

Ahhh...here it is, the statement from the CEO of Walmart:

Today, we’re sharing the decisions we’ve made that go further:

After selling through our current inventory commitments, we will discontinue sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber that, while commonly used in some hunting rifles, can also be used in large capacity clips on military-style weapons;

We will sell through and discontinue handgun ammunition; and

We will discontinue handgun sales in Alaska, marking our complete exit from handguns.

:lamo A private business not selling the exact type of product you want is "infringing on your liberty". When logic fails, just start spewing emotional generic pleas to self-victimize.

FINALLY

Why was Wal-Mart selling guns an ammunition an issue? In an ideal world, who would you want to sell guns and ammunition in the United States to law-abiding gun owners and would-be gun owners?

FINALLY

What I want to know is, who the hell is buying their guns at Walmart? Ammo, absolutely. Weapons?

I can't image a person leaving Walmart on the phone going, "Honey, I've got the eggs, milk, diapers and the shotgun"

If true, this is a very positive development.

FINALLY

Actually, they are discontinuing sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition like .223 and .556 and discontinuing hand gun sales in Alaska. They haven’t sold AR style rifles since 2015.

Dumb decision, as it will have exactly zero impact on gun crimes, but it’s their dumb decision to make.

How is Walmart not selling a product infringing on YOUR liberty? Where in the constitution does it state that every store has to carry a product YOU want?

Prediction -- this will have zero effect on future mass shootings.

The irony of the Left who used to sneer at Walmart as being the home of smelly Trump supporters, bubbas and clinging rednecks, now is all rah-rah Walmart because they are placating their side with pleasing but ultimately meaningless gestures.
