No it's not. If they cared about saving lives they would focus on areas where gun violence is most prevalent - the inner cities. But focusing on the inner cities would be racist, so instead all they talk about is mass shootings.

I counted four lies in the above quote. :) See if you can find just one of them!

Nearly 1.25 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44.
For the United States:
Over 37,000 people die in road crashes each year
An additional 2.35 million are injured or disabled
Over 1,600 children under 15 years of age die each year
Nearly 8,000 people are killed in crashes involving drivers ages 16-20
Road crashes cost the U.S. $230.6 billion per year, or an average of $820 per person
Road Safety Facts — Association for Safe International Road Travel

Tens of thousands of deaths, thousands of children killed, over 2 million injured or disabled, costing hundreds of billions of dollars - EVERY YEAR!!!

Do any of you doubt there are thousands, tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands of totally incompetent drivers out there. Licensing them, testing their driving, licensing and inspecting their cars, and regulating cars for safety - and still massive death counts, injury counts and economic lose anyway.

How many people each year are killed or injured by concealed carry firearms and what are the costs of CCWers? Virtually none.

So why isn't the demand to reduce the speed limit to 25 mph? There is no constitutional right to drive a car. 25 mph will get you where you are going - it would just take a few more minutes. For distance you could fly, take a bus - or take your time.

Why is saving 30 minutes a day MORE important to you than the truly massive death and injury carnage even overwhelming exceeding war deaths - particularly of children and young people - while you demand banning Conceal Carry of a firearm - that statistically is almost devoid of any injuries and deaths - and it is known the mere appearance of a firearm deters tens of thousands - if not more - felony crimes and assaults per year?

For those of you who want conceal carry banned, how do you justify this unless you also support reducing the speed limit to 25 mph - which would save MANY, MANY times more lives and prevent overwhelmingly more injuries, not even counting the massive annual economic costs?

Do your REALLY care about saving lives - or just fear and/or hate guns and want to force everyone else to live to your fear and/or hate?
Then

A halfassed solution like that isn't going to get you anywhere. You need to think bigger. Instead of reducing the speed limit, eliminate personal automobiles entirely. Not only are they dangerous, but also inefficient and wasteful. Switch investment to public transportation infrastructure, instead of highways. You'll save lives, and the planet.

You really only listen to yourself, don't you? I find your constant racist messages a study in ignorance. My ethnicity became a "minority" in this country long, long ago by murder by people exactly like you.

Damn, dude, I've been accused of quite a few things around here, but genocide? That's a new one!

Yes, people exactly like you demanded my people be disarmed totally. Like your ancestors, you still do. You and you white Democrats want the government to be able to go back to being about to defenselessly murder my people again. The number of murders and deaths caused by the Democratic Party is into the millions.

YOU WHITE DEMOCRATS have ALWAYS done everything possible to disarm blacks. Originally, white Democrats made it a death penalty offense for a black person to even touch a gun or any other weapon. You also want a black man with a gun to be imprisoned, denied the right to vote, denied all firearm rights, and denied most professional employment. ANYTHING to keep blacks defenseless and poor. That is the entire history of the Democratic Party to this day.

The passage of the 1986 gun ban was EXACTLY because black leaders were calling upon blacks to arm themselves. This HORRIFIED many white people, particularly white Democrats. From the origins of the Democratic Party to now, disarming black people has been a core of the motivation for gun control.

Wait, you're black?

That would cripple the world's largest economy and is incredibly dumb

How? Semi trailers could travel across country by train. People can travel by plane or train - then rent a car upon arrival. Maybe people shouldn't live an hour or two drive from work.

You reason we have to continue to have tens of thousands killed, over a million injured or crippled, and hundreds of billions lost EVERY YEAR is that it would cost us to much if they all weren't killed or crippled?

But you don't hesitate to rant about 1 illegal immigrant dying in the USA, do you? Stop pretending you care about avoidable death. Obviously by your messages everything is just about money to you - and why you want mass illegal immigrant and foreign child slave labor sweatshops in the world is because this saves you money. Doesn't matter to you how many people die, just how you can save a quarter. If someone has to die to put another quarter in your pocket, you're for that death as the point of your message.

Wait, you're black?

No. Not black. Not white. But to hell with your racist view of evaluating me on my race. Don't worry about my race. My race is none of your business. Just look in the mirror and like a complete fool remind yourself how evil you claim you are for your race.

My God you have to be kidding. This would destroy our entire economy. Productivity would crash. People would not want to work more than a few miles from home. Every good and service provided would come to a slow grinding mess.

It is a hilariously stupid idea

The OP raises a good point that we need to step up our traffic safety laws, but it goes about doing so in just about the stupidest manner possible.

I don't want to drive everywhere at 25 mph and I don't want to give up my CCW.

Looking at it another way (I did the math hastily but I think my answers are close)

There are roughly 212.4 million cars in America with annual deaths resulting from auto accidents pegged at somewhere between 37 and 40 million people or roughly .11 deaths per automobile if we go in with the high end number of deaths.

There are an estimated 357 million guns in America with annual death resulting from deliberate and accidental use of guns placed at roughly 3300 people per year. I did the math hastily, but I believe that figures out to something like .0009 deaths per gun.

Now I ask you. Which is more dangerous? Automobiles or guns?

I say lets keep the speed limits sensible and the gun laws reasonable to help us keep them out of the hands of those who shouldn't have them, but otherwise leave law abiding citizens alone.

As I said, it isn't about "safety" or lives at all. It is about hating and fearing guns - no matter what the result.

I think what gun banners really hate is how gun owners tend to vote against the creeping crud of collectivization

But how can you prove that they went to the moon? ;)

because that has been corroborated by dozens of experts and many witnesses. Let us get back to your specious claims that I have lied when I claim that most of the leaders of the anti gun movement are really not motivated by saving lives

Guns are far far far more dangerous than cars. Most people never touch a gun but they have about the same deaths as something people use every day

But that relies on witnesses who are relying on witnesses!

(Note to the peanut gallery: I 100% believe in the moon landing. Just in case anyone is wondering.)

Hmmm. Math isn't your strong suit is it. It isn't mine either but I at least can read statistics and usually can make sense of them.

yes, and having tried several dozen jury trials, I am familiar with witness reliability issues. but given every other celestial object that is similar to the moon is made of rock, that is a confirmation. What evidence to do you have that the leaders of the gun movement are mainly motivated by saving lives.

There should be greater restrictions on driving as well as more frequent testing...

If you live in a rain area... tests during the worst rain storms... same with snow... test old people every couple of years once they hit 60, especially immigrants who maybe did not grow up around cars... test at night... take radios out of cars... "no bikini zones" near all roads... put up stop gates at all red lights... give cops automatic shut offs for all cars... this is just a start.

Problem solved

Still relies on the witness of scientists. It's not as if you Republican voters trust those. ;)

It's just a non stop flood of really piss poor, trolling, right wing idiocy. The same dumb, unintelligent, dishonest arguments over and over. They have to be bots to be so uniform, so predictable in their stupidity

They should encourage abortion... less people alive means fewer deaths while driving...

Now think....just think

The bottom line is that there are many MANY more guns in America than there are cars, but there are up to 40,000 deaths per year due to automobiles to 3300 gun deaths. I own guns and do touch them, I am pretty sure most if not all of my neighbors own guns, and several carry. But I fear injury or death from automobiles especially as inattentive, reckless, careless, incompetent as many drivers are. I have zero concern for any injury or death from those guns.
