ICYMI: Hispanic El Paso Residents Urgently Seek Firearms Training To Carry Concealed
8/17/2019 ~~ By Beth Baumann
Following the deadly shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas that killed 22 people a few weeks ago, Hispanics in the city have flocked to the gun range to take concealed carry classes, Reuters reported. The course is required for Texas residents to obtain a License to Carry (LTC) a concealed firearm. According to Michael McIntyre, general manager of Gun Central, one of the biggest gun stores in El Paso, his classes have see a huge increase since the shooting earlier this month. Normally each of his concealed carry classes have seven people. Now they average 50 people per class. And the people who are seeking his services are predominantly Hispanic. “I have over 50 for this Saturday class and approximately the same amount for the Sunday class, and I normally have approximately seven,” McIntyre told Reuters. In addition to an increase in a desire for training, McIntyre said his handgun sales doubled following the attack. “We actually had two people buy guns here who were actually in the Walmart on the day of the shooting. The other people are just saying, ‘Hey, you know I want to be able to protect myself in the event of something going on.’,” he said. “This is not the last mass shooting we’re going to see.”
This isn't the first time people flocked to firearms training and carrying concealed. Similar instances took place following the attacks in San Bernardino, California in 2015 and Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida in 2016.

Comment:
But, but, but, I thought all those folks in El Paso disgusted by "Gun Violence" were going to be turning in their firearms. WTF? These same folks need to let their politicians know they won't put up with any more infringements. Just sayin'.
I am particularly pleased to see minorities carrying. The main purpose Democrats calling for gun control from the latter part of the 19th and 20th Centuries was to keep minorities from being armed: The Truth About Gun Control and Racism... points out that gun control laws came about because racist Democrats did not want Black people to have guns.
"Few Americans remember today that the first task of the Ku Klux Klan was to disarm the black population in the South. Even fewer know that, in the days before the Civil War, citizen militias repelled white mobs that attacked black neighborhoods in many Northern cities. On at least two occasions, those militias were composed entirely of black gun owners."
"The Long-Departed Gun Control Train" at The Long-Departed Gun Control Train | Scragged shows why no gun owner can trust Democrats no matter what they say. It also gives some quotes which show that their ultimate objective is confiscation.
Nobody wants to take your guns? – The Writer in Black... is a list of politicians' quotes in favor of confiscating guns.
Seems Progressive Marxist Socialist/DSA Democrats have a long sordid history in trying to convince people that their urge for self preservation is wrong. Look at what happened in Russian, Germany and China after guns were taken from the people?
"The Left’s strategic method is and has always been attacking principles under a guise of 'compromise.' A principle, once 'holed,' cannot be maintained. Take the one illustrated in the previous segment: Individuals have a right to keep and bear arms. Once firearms rights proponents had been persuaded to accept the nebulous rationale of 'safety' as a premise of equal stature, the Left had won the game, even if checkmate remained fifty or sixty moves away."
Liberty's Torch: The Compromise Canard

These must be the stupid people the left refers to that ignorantly respond to a crisis and the fear the left gins up over mass shootings.

Just goes to show how horrible Dems' instincts are. Their knee-jerk gun control (grab)/blame Trump response does not resonate. If some other lunatic wants to shoot Hispanics at the border, damn skippy they should get to decide whether or not they pack heat.
Democrats run to El Paso (ignored Dayton, of course) to get camera time and self promote.
Republicans offer them the choice of self defense for themselves and their families.

No brainer to me.

Bait thread is baity, also Mulford Act written and passed by Republicans, thus bait thread is utter bullcrap.

All uber-right sources. The usual partisan fare from Doc.

False, both the California state assembly and Senate were majority democrat at the time it was passed.

False, both the California state assembly and Senate were majority democrat at the time it was passed.

Governor, Lt. Governor, CA SecState, Treasurer, Controller, all Republicans.
State Senate mix was 20D, 20R, State Assembly was 42D, 38R.
Assembly Bill 1591 was introduced by Don Mulford (R) from Oakland on April 5th, 1967, and subsequently co-sponsored by John T. Knox (D) from Richmond, Walter J. Karabian (D) from Monterey Park, Frank Murphy Jr. (R) from Santa Cruz, Alan Sieroty (D) from Los Angeles, and William M. Ketchum (R) from Bakersfield. Mulford, Murphy and Ketchum were the three Republican co-sponsors of the bill.

Both Republicans and Democrats in California supported increased gun control.
Governor Ronald Reagan, who was coincidentally present on the capitol lawn when the protesters arrived, later commented that he saw "no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons" and that guns were a "ridiculous way to solve problems that have to be solved among people of good will."
In a later press conference, Reagan added that the Mulford Act "would work no hardship on the honest citizen."

Introduced by Republicans, passed with bipartisan support, signed by a Republican governor.

So it was passed by legislative democrats, thanks for playing.

By the way who actually banned open carry totally in California? We want to have that discussion?

The Mulford Act is named after Don Mulford, its Republican author.
Try to know what you're talking about next time, instead of trying to move the goalposts.
Besides, seeing as how you hate the democratic process itself and prefer theocracy, aristocracy or absolute monarchy as evidenced by your past statements, you shouldn't care who passed it.

Well sure if that’s how you define banana republic then keep the bananas coming. If we were turned into an absolutely monarchy with King Donald I I’d be perfectly happy since he’s so far doing a good job governing despite the totally crap allegations he’s being subjected to

The aristocracy is the best defender of everyone’s rights.

If a middle class can only exist through government violence and violation of property rights then the middle class deserves to be abolished.

It's crazy, like, I just don't understand why good, decent people would go out and arm themselves in self-defense after being targeted in a terror attack. Especially when the politicians voted to represent you won't do anything about the actual problems. I really just can't wrap my head around it.

it was actually pretty bipartisan. Mulford Act - Wikipedia

It was bipartisan because the country was bipartisan back then. But it was authored and introduced by Republicans, and signed into law by a Republican governor who later became President.

And it was endorsed by the NRA.

Now, I'll just leave you and EMN to prattle on with your nonsensical revisionist views that insist this was somehow a piece of liberal legislation from the left. I am not interested in your revisionism, or your views of the left, or your moronic condemnation of everything liberal, or your attempts to move the goalposts, or your virtue signaling, or your warped views of the NRA, or your tales of derring do.

You really don't understand that?...lol

The idiot left: Trump is a racist...a Nazi...a fascist...Hitler incarnate!

Also the idiot left: we should disarm and trust the government to protect us!

And thus ended the presidential campaign of radical gun grabber Beto O'Rouke.

I bet his first to-do thing after his announcement before heading back to El Paso was to buy a 9mm Glock and an AR15.
