Do you feel safer Now?

Armed Man Who Caused Panic at Missouri Walmart Said It Was 2nd Amendment Test, Authorities Say - The New York Times

For over 30 years the NRA and gun advocates have told us we will be safer with more guns out there and fewer places that guns are not allowed. The estimate is that we have over 300 million guns out there and there are fewer places you can not carry. In fact Texas has one of the laws that allow carry almost everywhere and yet the shooting in El Paso took place. Not only that but there are people who were interviewed who said they were carrying, but they like everyone else fled the shooting. There are even people who are so gun nuts that they are willing after what happened in the El Paso Walmart, to go into another Walmart carrying weapons similar to the El Paso shooter to prove their 2nd Amendment rights. See the article above. Needless to say there was a panic. So my question to you, as the number of mass shootings grow to record numbers, do all of these guns and laws make you feel safer?

How much do you want to let fear rule your life? You say you feel more fear of guns at this moment, what about alcohol? 90,000 people died in 2018 from alcohol related incidents. There was over 300,000 car accidents in Ohio last year, 4.5 million were seriously injured in cars in the US are you afraid of cars? Did you know murders by guns are on the decline? Murders in general are still right around the same.

Think about all those numbers and tell me why guns frighten more people.

They may be more sane but not more trained. When they passed ccw in Wisco they passed a rule that you needed very, and I mean very limited training, A friend of ours went and got the ccw and a gun. The problem was she did not even know how to take it off the safety as that was not part of the training. The training was basically how the law works and where you could carry rather than teaching anything about the use of her weapon. This neighbor to this day has never even shot a gun and that scares me and should scare you as there are many more people out there like my neighbor. What is really scary is when they were writing the law, the NRA came in and told the GOP law makers who control our legislature that they did not need to include any training requirement in the law. Even the GOP in this state would not go along with that. When I was an NRA member in my youth it was all about safety and training. Now it seems to be just the ad agency for the gun makers.

The idea that guns do not require training is absolutely ridiculous. It should be mandated by federal law

There have been 47,220 gun incidents in the U.S. in 2018 — and here they all are on one map - MarketWatch
Here are the stats for the US for 2018. Over 47 thousand gun related. Since we do not have a central government agency that collects the data it might be many more.
Considering the economic devastation ongoing in minority communities across the country, I have to say that 40 deaths a day might be considered a bit low. I'm kid of surprised its not higher, considering the number of gangs and ongoing instances of day to day violence in the country. Imagine how much that number could go down if people were more interested in addressing the actual pro0blems than constantly ****ting themselves over the normal secondary bi-product of the actual problems.

But if what has happened in the US to date, the policeman would walk away unscathed while your friend with the gun would be dead.

Heres the thing. If you arent a gang member, dont live in a rat controlled rat infested gang dominated community, and dont off yourself, the odds of you dying by gunfire are EXTRAORDINARILY low.

You have let the leftists mind-**** you in order to get you to support their anti-gun cause.

Do you know the difference between gun incidents and mass shooting, if not do so before you post.

USA is currently ranked 128th nation on the global peace index - difficult to see how anyone can feel safe...

then don't come here.

So you agree it is a dangerous place then...

...wouldn’t you prefer to live somewhere safer, somewhere where you don’t need to live with the paranoia that there is a madman packing heat!

Of course I know the difference. You dont give a **** about the dead bodies in either instance, but the bodies in mass shootings you can exploit.

I'm far more afraid of getting killed by a drunk or lunatic driver than I am of getting killed in a mass shooting. It's funny that the latter is getting all the attention, when the former is so much more serious.

People get tested to get a driver's license. And there are all sorts of laws for what vehicles are considered street legal.

Any crazy nutjob can pack heat with no testing or background check, and there seem to be no limits on what kind of crazy thing they can haul around anywhere they like.

All potentially dangerous tools/equipment need proper training, licensing, screening, and regulation. Guns are not safer than cars.

Thank heavens there aren’t too many mass shootings to exploit!.....

....oh wait...

then don't come here.

Who are you to tell us that?

Somalia has some war zones with pretty nonrestrictive gun laws. People use their guns very frequently there to defend themselves. Why don't you move there? I'm sure you will have plenty of chances to use your guns defensively and so will feel very safe.

Thank heavens there is no chance of me getting hold of one of these dangerous things if I ever decide to visit the US...

On average, despite the hype and rhetoric, there have been 2-3 mass shootings a year going back to 1982. Tragic...every event. the norm is a handful of dead bodies...usually under 50 in a year. Thats a slow month in any major liberal city.

Wait...you arent an American?

And seriously...whoever wrote that "public safety" message is a ****ing moron. But then...they knew it would appeal to a certain type of person.

Countries with more restrictive gun laws are safer.

And last I checked, Honolulu was safer than most cities in Trump country.

But mass shootings aren’t the whole picture, 14,000 gun homicides per year in the US - and rising significantly.

Honolulu has its own ****hole problems to deal with. Its level of ice addiction and homelessness has doubled in 6 years.
"A 16-year-old male was charged Monday with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Sgt. William H. Brown, a 23-year-old Kaneohe-based Marine who was stabbed multiple times. Police said Brown was with a group of people at about 1 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Royal Hawaiian and Kalakaua avenues when a verbal exchange escalated into an altercation.

A 21-year-old man and 15-year-old girl were initially arrested along with the 16-year-old on suspicion of second-degree murder, but have been released pending investigation.

Police are still investigating the Oct. 6 attack on a 21-year-old Schofield Barracks soldier who was beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed repeatedly. A 14-year-old boy was charged with second-degree assault in connection with the attack, which happened near the intersection of Lewers Street and Kalakaua Avenue in the wee morning hours.

Jordan Smith, 18, was charged last month with second-degree murder in the death of Maleko “Mac” Remlinger. He was also charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree attempted murder and four firearm offenses.

Remlinger was killed Sept. 16 and two others injured when Smith allegedly used a rifle to shoot into a crowd outside Club Alley Cat. "

"The number of Waikiki slayings is considered low compared with other urban destinations; however, Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman Michelle Yu said it’s “extremely high” for Waikiki, and for Oahu, which typically has fewer than a dozen murders a year. This year’s Waikiki 10-month murder count already has surpassed all of the Waikiki murders that occurred in 2015 and 2016."

Its just a matter of time before that rat infested leftist ****hole is rivaling every other rat infested rat run ****hole.

That was my point earlier and I believe the point where you came into the conversation.

It says a great deal about the mentality of a country that imposes a ban on a certain type of chocolate egg on the grounds of safet, yet guns are freely available to buy. Explain the logic of that, because I certainly can’t?

It says a great deal about the stupidity of people that would try to compare the safety concerns of small plastic toys in chocolate eggs that kids might choke on vs firearms that are not sold to children and that 120 million Americans own and responsibly use every year. You see a bunch of people buying guns for toddlers...you might have a ****ing point.

You dont.

You apparently have a real hard on about the kinder egg thing. Let me ask you...do you think Kinder Eggs should have been banned?

I see you can’t explain the logic either...
