[W:92] Federal legislation is needed to stop gun violence

you're lying and you prove time and time again, that you know nothing about this subject. Nutcases choose these guns for two reasons

1) the AR 15 is by far the most popular rifle in America, and every time the hysterics yap about banning it-several more million are sold. Just as Chevies and Fords feature more in drunk driving deaths than Lotuses or FIATS, AR 15s are chosen more than similar rifles that work exactly the same such as the SIG MCX or the Beretta AR70

2) you gun banners-especially those in the press and public office-continually tell the nutcases that AR 15s are the weapons of choice for mass murderers and those nutcases tend to believe you. BTW Fort Hood, Luby's of Texas and VT didn't involve rifles. NOR DID THE DAYTON shooter.

You do realize new drugs are created, and even though they are a synthetic drug, they still get banned.

The same with guns. Even though the Dayton shooter didn't technically use an assault rifle, the gun he used should be banned.

what is a military style gun-I tire of hysterical calls to infringe on our rights by people who have no clue what they are talking about.

Your stupid pipe dream is just that and the way 3D printing is going, you all are going to be powerless to stop Americans arming themselves.

The only assault is see is the idiotic statements anti gun hysterics make contrary to the truth

This is about the fact we have too many guns in our country. They pass them around like candy. 5 years ago I had someone do some landscaping and he said he couldn't pay me but offered to give me 4 glock 43x's as a trade off. Seriously. Guns get passed around this country like candy.

I get you hate the constitution and you want to ban things you don't understand. I find your hysterics to be a good reason for honest Americans to each go out and buy themselves a nice AR 15 pistol, and at least 10 30 round magazines. and a couple Thousand rounds of ammunition. Now I have more AR 15s than I use anymore and I mainly upgrade the ones I have with say Timney or Geissele triggers, Bravo charging handles and Faxon Bolts and bolt carriers, but if there is another buying surge due to people like you screaming for bans, I can unload several of the medium grade ones I have and make a fairly good profit on what I paid for them.

There are too many hysterical emotionally driven gun banners in the country-- 50 years ago-they would be seen as loons or needing special care, but now they seem to breed faster than sensible folks. I sometimes think some of them work for the gun makers because they sure cause lots of scary looking guns to be sold.

A range I shoot at got a good deal on Bushmaster (a brand that is at best OK ever since Remington bought the name from the original company in Windham, Maine) AR 15s in November of 2012, and the owner went whole hog and bought several pallet loads of them. He thought Obama's re-election would cause a run, but the GOP remained in charge of the senate so there was no real run on these things. Two of his managers were complaining that they could have used the money to buy stuff that was actually selling, or renovate one of the three ranges. So he put out a flier, offering these guns at only 125 over what he paid for them-which was about 50 bucks less than his normal mark up. And then sandy hook hit. In four days he sold every single one of them-and almost all the other brands of AR's he had. Unlike some dealers, he honored the flier listed price-and he sold me two high end JP 3G competition rigs at a discount that had been announced to regulars right before SH. He made a ton because of this. I was in the store a lot, I even advised one guy who publicly bragged that the four he bought, he was going to sell that afternoon at a flea market for a big profit, that what he was planning was most likely a federal violation. but I saw tons of people buying these things because people like YOU wanted to ban them. And a couple years later, I was able to buy several of the most expensive ones at a big discount, when people who bought them, realized that they really had no use for them.

If you really want to cut down on the number of AR 15s in circulation Bucky, then the best thing to do, is stop howling for them to be banned.

Unfortunately, evidence and facts are not on your side:

The US has the highest gun ownership rate in the world - an average of 88 per 100 people. That puts it first in the world for gun ownership - and even the number two country, Yemen, has significantly fewer - 54.8 per 100 people

How is it every other modern country in the world does not have this problem?

that has nothing to do with what I said, I don't find freedom to be a problem. You do. and there are many countries with no freedom for gun owners that have higher murder rates. There is no credible evidence that your dreams of banning certain guns will make anyone but criminals safer. And I truly believe that is what motivates many gun haters.

What , in your mind, is the rationalization for claiming that 'gun haters' do so because 'they are motivated by wanting criminals to be safer" ? That makes absolutely no sense on any level whatsoever. Explain your thought processes for making such an insane, asinine positive claim.

It would be great if all states adopted such strict gun laws. New York has also banned assault-style weapons, right?

That is correct except for those that owned the guns prior to the ban.

Unfortunately there was still 547 homicides in the state with the majority of the murders in NYC.

smart people realize that if you pass a gun ban the people who are most likely to obey it are the people LEAST LIKELY to engage in criminal attacks on others. Smart people also realize that people who commit murder and armed robbery are the people LEAST LIKELY to obey a gun or magazine ban. The real asinine position is pretending that gun bans are more likely to disarm criminals (who use firearms to harm innocents) than honest people (who use guns to defend themselves from violent criminals)

this is called logic.

actually it's called another deflection. You didn't in any manner give a 'rational' explanation as to why 'gun haters/democrats' would have any rational reason for criminals to be 'safer.' You really seem to be struggling with your logic and rational thought processes. Are you flustered that some of your fellow conservatives, as well as former military think your views on gun control are way off base, as well as being irrational ?

TurtleDude has proven himself a very depraved individual that has admitted he makes a profit personally during these shootings. When demand increases he sells his firearms and makes money.

Morbid and disgusting, and not only does he have no shame doing it, he brags about it..Kinda makes his claim that others 'get off' on these mass shootings/deaths ring very hollow.

There is nothing to persuade him to give up his guns - he keeps the as a phallic symbol that he's a bigger man than he really is.

Cut with the constitution nonsense. There is nothing in the constitution that allows you to have whatever gun your little heart desires, in whatever location in the United States you desire.

There is nothing in the constitution that gives the federal government the proper power to say otherwise and even the watered down version holds that firearms in common use that are not UNUSUALLY dangerous, are protected. Sort of hard to argue Semi auto rifles are unusually dangerous given that the US GOVERNMENT sold us citizens hundreds of thousands of them

OK, let's require every state to allow it's residents to take a voluntary NICS BGC when the get their valid, state issued, photo IDs issued/renewed. Anyone who passes that NICS BGC gets their ID stamped "GUN OK". After that process is in place (say one year from now) every person not having a valid, state issued, photo ID and possessing a gun can be shot on the spot by police. Just kidding about that last part, but now that I have your attention, it would allow "prohibited persons" to be arrested and convicted of a "gun crime" long before they committed any act of violence with a gun.
Yes, and add a place on the ID to indicate that the holder is entitled to vote.

OK, why not? Yet that has nothing to do with gun control.

but he makes a sound point-many of those who are all too happy to demand gun owners "fill out forms" or jump through hoops to own guns" are also the ones who claim that VOTER ID is designed to suppress the votes of minorities, the poor, illegal aliens and others who are seen as Democratic Party supporters.

and this is coming from a poster who took umbrage at me saying he is anti gun. well when you support or like anti gun posts-guess what-that strongly suggests you are anti gun. when you support the gun banner's mis-interpretation of the second amendment, that suggests you are a gun banner.

You don't have a clue what you are babbling about. You're just flapping your jaws to hear yourself babble. Next thing, you'll be trying and failing to tell me about my own gun collection...

so what you are saying is you aren't anti gun, you are just anti pro gun posters?

You're never going to learn that trying and failing to put YOUR words in OTHER'S mouths makes you look foolish and desperate, are you ? Maybe in another 14 years, or so, you'll figure it out and save yourself a whole hell of a lot of embarassment.....your call...

well lets see if you are actually here to discuss federal gun legislation

most of us know that the Heller decision held that firearms that are in common use (that includes civilian police btw) and are not unusually dangerous, are protected. can you explain what makes semi auto rifles with flash hiders or adjustable stocks "unusually dangerous" (ie thus not subject to 2nd Amendment protection)while ones with fixed stocks and muzzle brakes are not considered "assault weapons" that should be banned.
