Dmitriy Andreychenko Arrested At Springfield, Missouri Walmart Wearing Body Armor, Carrying Assault Rifle

... A man wearing body armor and carrying an assault rifle caused a panic at a Springfield, Missouri Walmart Thursday afternoon, Springfield’s KY3 reports. No shots were fired, and he was detained by an off-duty firefighter until police arrived and arrested him without incident.According to police reports, a “young, white male” wearing body armor and military fatigues and carrying “tactical weapons” was observed walking through a Walmart on the city’s south side. Authorities say he grabbed a cart and began pushing it through the store, recording himself on his cell phone the whole time. ...

what was the problem with this adult bearing arms in public, such that the police spokesman stated that he was lucky to still be alive for publicly bearing arms

all of you second amendment defenders, did this fellow do anything other than exercise his Constitutional right to bear arms?

Walking around in body armor and guns hanging off your shoulders in the middle of a store a few days after multiple mass shootings? Are you honestly saying that it's outrageous to think that someone might be alarmed enough by this sight to start shooting at him thinking they are stopping yet another mass shooting?

If he is legally allowed to do this, then fine. Doesn't mean it isn't a pretty dumb thing to do. I think that he is lucky to not have been shot.

Yes, all of the 2A defenders should be alarmed. If open carry is legal there, THAT IS what it looks like.

I hope more people do this. Just to make the insanity even more obvious...

The firefighter should be arrested and the police cheif fired !

That should be the standard response from gun humpers, but with trump leading them now, who knows what they hold dear anymore.

I sort of feel sad for them. ;)

He shouldn't have exercised his right to carry his gun into a Walmart after the El Paso incident. It's rude if nothing else.

You can get arrested for yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. The First Amendment doesn't protect you.

No he did not. The police department should have its ass sued and the man who assaulted the guy should be charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon.

Some old white people are afraid of black people. Shouldn't they be arrested if they scare anyone for exercising their rights?

Yes, lots of people are alarms at protests. Lots of people were alarmed at BLM calling for murdering cops. They all should be arrested and prosecuted. ANYONE who does or says anything that alarms anyone else should be either shot by the police or arrested at gun point by anyone and then arrests.

Obviously that police officer absolutely hates democracy, the legislator, governor and the laws of his state, seeing himself as total dictator of that city.

Interesting reading so many people cheering false arrest, criminally assaulting someone with a gun, and declaring police can eliminate anyone's specific legal rights anytime they want to.

Since the man wasn't even touching his gun and it is an open carry state, you literally have a police officer - absolutely a radical Democrat - openly advocating for outright murder - as that is what it would be if anyone had shot him.

are our Constitutional rights to bear arms suspended after mass attacks elsewhere?

what would have been the reason to shoot him
he bore arms as is his Constitutional right
and there is nothing that indicates he used those arms to place walmart patrons in danger
so, the question becomes, does one have the right to bear arms in public or not?

how about open carry by a number of large black men also going into the local walmart to make sure the ammunition they purchase there is of the proper calibre; should anyone have a problem with that?

and yet he was arrested for doing so
why?

anyone care to disagree with joko's astute assessment of this scenario?

He should have been detained at the police station and then released.

For being an idiot

Wow, just wow people.

Holding a firearm in and of itself isn't a big deal, but wearing body armor while doing so is.

It's usually a dead giveaway, that you are about to engage a crime, and don't want to get killed by police gunfire.

And it is NOT unreasonable for people to assume that.

but all he did was exercise his Constitutional right to bear arms

isn't detainment an infringement of said right?

and are idiots [idiots as in common expression and not determined as such by the courts] not allowed to bear arms?

I was thinking much the same thing. If open carry is legal, how do we report "nut with gun"?

People need to know. No?

where is the prohibition on wearing body armor?
and what causes one to relinquish their Constitutional right to bear arms while wearing body armor?

Police have total discretion to detain someone and remove them from the scene if they present a potential danger to the public.

Total discretion

Missouri is an open-carry state. But its laws do prohibit gun owners from displaying their weapons in a threatening way.

For instance, even someone who holds a valid conceal-carry endorsement and is openly carrying a gun can run afoul of the law "if the firearm is intentionally displayed in an angry or threatening manner, not in necessary self-defense."

Because we are in a heighten state with all of these shootings. You can bear arms, just be smart about it.

how is law enforcement's detaining someone only because he is exercising his Constitutional right to bear arms anything other than an infringement of said right?

seems like a massive and slippery slope

what about his Constitutionally protected carry constituted a threat to anyone, based on the information within that cited story

Police have to maintain order. If your actions have a potential for violence they will make you leave the scene
