And before possibly outlawed. Become truly capable at 1000+ yard sniper shots with your first shot? Want 2 inch groups at 600 yards out of an AR15? This is the way to go - if you got the money of course.
I want the AR15 and the .338 Lapua Magnum bolt action, plus a great thermal scope to attach. Could live with a night scope. The semi-auto .308 is impressive, but overkill and costly to fire, plus the loudness factor. The .338 bolt action would cover any need for hard hitting long range - even much longer.
If I just HAD to, I could live with only the AR15 with a thermal. ONLY $10,000 for the rifle/scope setup and $17,000 for the .338 - not counting the thermal. For ONLY a bit over $30K you can have it all.
Other than .22s for plunking or small game and shotguns, what else could a person ever need in a long gun? If you're missing with one of those? Give up shooting and have a psychiatrist check you for brain damage.
Any idiot can hit a target at 1400 yards with a 200 grain .338?! 600 yards with a high capacity magazine semi-auto AR15? Or, worse, their NATO 30 caliber semi-auto? I'm surprised they are still civilian purchase legal. I suspect they won't be for long.
