Californians Thrown Curve Ball on Eve of New Ammo Control

You don't love it...you are just blathering again.

True, I am laughing at lefties who pretend that their anti gun views are not based on a desire to harass people who don't vote the way they do

You don't need to acquire a Real ID within the next week to buy "cigarettes, certain drugs, and alcohol". THAT is the issue, not the requirement to show a photo ID. And its just one more impediment that was tossed in at the last moment to obstruct lawful gun use. It has ZERO to do with crime control.

what is its purpose?

This is why nobody trusts "reasonable" gun control measures. The "emergency" regulations are onerous and difficult to comply with before the new law kicks in.

Basically, if you don't have a "real ID" you have to provide a copy of your birth certificate or passport with your regular license. If your name has changed since you were born or got your passport (like, for example, if you got married or divorced) you need to bring even more documentation.

Please keep in mind, this is for the purchase of AMMUNITION. It's not even to buy a "homicidal maniac, fully automatic, more lethal than you could ever imagine, killing machine".

I suspect that many Californians will be making runs to Las Vegas, Lake Havasu and Yuma.

There is the legal question of illegal surveillance of cars with California plates in Nevada sporting goods parking lots, and those cars being stopped in California and searched, not to mention turing agricultural check points into to California customs searches.

Keeping your bull**** in check is a benefit to all.

Actually all I see is someone who seems to resent that others actually know more about the issue than he does. What exactly did I say that you disagreed with-didn't you say you object to background checks for buying ammo?

All beefheart said is that he doesn't care. Only extremists get mad at people who don't care as much as they do.

Why does someone not care if other citizens are harassed or hassled when they try to exercise constitutional rights? If I said I don't care if women are harassed when they visit planned parenthood, what do you think my position on legal abortion is?

People care or don't care for their own reasons. Brow-beating people who don't care as much as you just makes your side look bad, resulting in less support for your side, resulting in more loss for your side.

To harass lawful gun owners. and perhaps pander to anti gun voters

without the ID requirement, how do they confirm you are a LAWFUL gun owner?

This isn't about being a lawful gun owner-it is about making another requirement that is only designed to harass lawful gun owners.

how do you know it is not about assuring the ammo purchasers are LEGAL gun owners?

I will let others decide if he said he merely didn't care-I see a bit of snark directed towards those wanting to buy ammo in this comment

Too bad, you will need a real id driver license to fly (or a passport) soon. Not hard to get, I got mine, easy squeezy.

Because I have seen what other laws the idiots who are pushing this nonsense have passed and they are all about harassing lawful gun ownership

It is easy to read the simple mind of the typical leftist. Leftists think law abiding Americans should be forced to produce some specific ID based upon stringent requirements before being allowed to buy BBs for their pellet guns, but voting officials should be jailed if they dare to ask anyone to produce a valid ID to vote.

Real ID doesn't prove that I own any gun at all. It only proves that I am who I say I am. Convicted violent felons and child molesters have Real ID.

Background checks don't prove I own any gun at all. Also, I might be buying ammunition for a gun I don't own, as is the case at ranges that rent firearms, or when you borrow a gun.

Yep, now that this law is passed, 'law-abiding gun owners' have to do it. If they don't, then they get to find out if California has any Red Flag laws on the books.

what is its purpose?

As I said, other than to make it a greater hassle for ordinary people from buying ammo for their guns, or conning voters into thinking they are protecting them from eeeevvvvillll guns, you tell me?
