Nothing fancy mind you, but it's mine, and it's perfect for my purse... and shoot outs in elevators :)

they don't jam and are not dependent on a certain level of ammo power to work

I was mildly concerned at the lack of a safety, but the trigger on that is quite heavy, which "is" the safety so... there you go.

Alright! Keep it in a good holster(you got it already) and don't put your eye out.LOL.

I think a .38 special would sadly do more than put your eye out if you made a mistake :p

I have shot at least 250 different revolvers-never had one with a safety per se on one-though some of the new smiths have a key you can use to lock them. but yes, that is the theory-long DA trigger pull prevents unintentional discharge

Well like the Barretta's we used in the Navy had a safety so.. Also it's hard to reply when your mail box is full!

This is the gun control forum, not the ‘display your toy’ forum.

I'm discussing how to shoot it, should I use a weaver stance? One handed? Should I get gansta' style and fire it sideways?

Gun Control.

Not ‘Ways to fondle your gun’

Are you upset that she bought a gun? and unlike you, none of us fondle guns. But then again, what exactly was the purpose of your silly comment?

weaver stance is overrated and obsolete IMHO. Back in the days when people didn't have access to progressive loading machines, and didn't get much practice-the weaver stance was purported to be better since its isometric tension allowed allegedly better control of a heavily recoiling 45 ACP or 357. But if you watch any of the top speed shooters-including those shooting USPSA limited (major power-no compensators on the barrels) =almost all are shooting isosceles. It is much faster and IMHO more accurate. One handed practice is a good thing to do-you might be carrying something or have use of only one hand. But it is generally not your first option

My gunny got upset when we first went to the range, I stood left foot forward weight back on my right foot, he wanted your strong foot, (I'm right handed) and lean into the shot. But I did shoot Expert and he said "Who taught you to shoot like that??"
I said: "Time Crisis"
He walked away shaking his head.

I don't fondle it, as a Trans woman I am high risk of being attacked, as a free citizen having at hand a tool to stop bad people is a good thing!

I strongly recommend you take a class and learn how to use it properly and effectively.

I think he is upset that people who own guns-and vote for gun rights-are less likely to support the big government politicians he wants to see in office. Especially those who want to use the claims of global warming to justify more collectivist nonsense. So he makes such comments showing his pique over gun owners.

Yes a very important thing to do. Once that is completed find a nice range where you can practice.

Check out Jeff Cooper,

The following is from The Carry Book: Minnesota Edition, 2011

Combat mindset and the Cooper color code

White: Unaware and unprepared. If attacked in Condition White, the only thing that may save you is the inadequacy or ineptitude of your attacker. When confronted by something nasty, your reaction will probably be "Oh my God! This can't be happening to me."

Yellow: Relaxed alert. No specific threat situation. Your mindset is that "today could be the day I may have to defend myself". You are simply aware that the world is a potentially unfriendly place and that you are prepared to defend yourself, if necessary. You use your eyes and ears, and realize that "I may have to shoot today". You don't have to be armed in this state, but if you are armed you should be in Condition Yellow. You should always be in Yellow whenever you are in unfamiliar surroundings or among people you don't know. You can remain in Yellow for long periods, as long as you are able to "Watch your six." (In aviation 12 o'clock refers to the direction in front of the aircraft's nose. Six o'clock is the blind spot behind the pilot.) In Yellow, you are "taking in" surrounding information in a relaxed but alert manner, like a continuous 360 degree radar sweep. As Cooper put it, "I might have to shoot."

Orange: Specific alert. Something is not quite right and has your attention. Your radar has picked up a specific alert. You shift your primary focus to determine if there is a threat (but you do not drop your six). Your mindset shifts to "I may have to shoot that person today", focusing on the specific target which has caused the escalation in alert status. In Condition Orange, you set a mental trigger: "If that person does "X", I will need to stop them". Your pistol usually remains holstered in this state. Staying in Orange can be a bit of a mental strain, but you can stay in it for as long as you need to. If the threat proves to be nothing, you shift back to Condition Yellow.

Red: Condition Red is fight. Your mental trigger (established back in Condition Orange) has been tripped. "If 'X' happens I will shoot that person" — 'X' has happened, the fight is on.

Yet another post showing you're upset. When you call guns "toys" it shows two things

1) you have an irrational loathing of gun owners and gun ownership

2) you really don't have anything to add to the discussion.

Five shot, right? Kinda' a modified "Chief's Special", if I remember right? Good thing its got nice modern grips. Airweights supposedly were a bit tight to hold, with those old stock walnut grips that Smiths came with back in the day. But I always wanted a Chief's Special. I like classic wheelguns. And I like J frames.
