SCOTUS Rejects Challenge to Silencer Laws

I've heard of a flash suppressor.

That's too stop muzzle flash from bleaching the shooters vision as I understand it. But I thought a suppressor was used to conceal it from observers.

flash hider=flash suppressor

if you are shooting a rifle in low light (in daylight you cannot really see much of a flash at all) or in the dark-a flash hider helps prevent you being temporarily blinded by the muzzle flash. If you are down range of the firearm-looking at it-you can easily see the flash

I thought if you are down range what a "silencer" was designed for was to hide muzzle flash from you not the shooter.

Is that wrong?

My reason for thinking that...

The Maxim Silencer, patented in 1909, was a tubular device attached to the barrel of a firearm which reduces noise and muzzle flash when fired.

I just thought that was their main intended purpose. Muffling sound was secondary.

Nope because you don't need a tax stamp nor undergo a 11 month wait for a flash suppressor. Most of my semi auto rifles have flash hiders.

Honestly the only reason you have to go through all that is anti gun hysteria

FDR wanted to ban handguns-he continued to want that after Hughey long was assassinated ( or killed by his own bodyguards). But he couldn't but he wanted to pander to people concerned over the violence that the government created bootlegging caused. So we had the NFA. Game wardens were upset that people were using suppressors to kill deer or cattle because they were hungry. And when they were arrested, their neighbors often acquitted them. So game wardens pushed to make possession of a suppressor a FEDERAL crime (hungry people couldn't afford a 200 dollar tax stamp)

that is why suppressors were restricted by the NFA. Dishonestly is what motivates almost all federal gun laws.

Marijuana is legal in some states but the federal government can still come in and bust people. Do you really think it would be any different if the feds got a bug up their arses for home made guns?

I think you will find that when the federal government does make a marijuana bust it always involves interstate and/or international commerce. You are not seeing any federal agent making any arrests of marijuana users or growers who are manufacturing and using it wholly within a given State. If it involves interstate or international commerce then the federal government has a say in the matter. However, if it is entirely intrastate then the federal government has absolutely no say in the matter. That was the whole point behind the Firearms Freedom Act.

Dude there are dozens of other ways Congress regulates intra and interstate commerce. Lopez did very little to affect that
