When I get dressed in the morning, my knives are part of my wardrobe.

I always carry at least three at all times. In twenty some years of school functions I have never entered a school without knives on me.

Hell I started carrying a knife in fourth grade and never went to school without one.

I just don't get trying to outlaw tools...

    Almost?

When I was learning I knocked myself out cold at least three times.

Nut shot were far too many to count.

Not all of NYS as much as NY city. NYS outlaws “gravity knives” and the various NYC DAs as well as the NYPD take a very, very broad view of what constitutes a gravity knife. So broad in fact that possession of a normal folding knife or a leatherman can get you arrested. Cops will look for an exposed clip - you know the clip that many knives have to clip them to the inside of your pocket. That alone can trigger and stop and frisk. Literally thousands of tradesmen and normal people have been arrested in the city for possession of knives that are otherwise legal everywhere else in the country.

That law was recently found unconstitutional by a federal district court. I’m assuming the city will appeal.

In related news the city’s handgun licensing scheme - or at least the portion of it that doesn’t allow handgun owners to remove their handguns from the city for any reason - is going to the SC this fall.

The city of NY and the state, need a colonoscopy and enema from the Supreme Court to get rid of all the crappy laws those turds have passed.

Possibly she's that non political judge we've been hunting. The one who believes in interpreting the law rather than making the law.
