the same with guns. In fact, many states have laws holding gun owners responsible for failing to properly store firearms.

No, that's the 'mirror technique' for debate, when you make their own argument back at them. This thread has died anyway so there's no point.

Not always. And not if people dont speak up.

All these allusions about the parents here (not from you)...yet here in WA St, about 3 yrs ago now, cop left loaded gun in glove box, a 7 yr old son and 3 yr old daugher in van and went into store. Son shot & killed daughter.

No charges were brought. Myself and other people wrote the county and asked why.

Same week: Hispanic couple in Yakima, WA left toddler in car. He found gun under seat and killed himself. They were charged immediately.

I brought this up in my email to the county. I received the reply that, "Yakima is a different jurisdiction."

Anyway, enough people did object and made it known to the county and the cop did end up being charged. Hung jury, no re-trial.

So...seems like quite the double standard...in the judicial process, the people in my county on that jury, and right here in this thread.

Point is there are lots of dangerous objects around children and guns are somewhere at the bottom of the list. However they are the ones you hear about.
LOL Guns kill more children than cancer in the US only car crashes kill more. They are far from the "bottom of the list", you should be ashamed for saying that.

he was correct in terms of accidental deaths

many of those gunshot deaths are intentional-either suicides or gang activity. Lots of drug gangs utilize juveniles to do everything from being mules to cleaners and lots of such people end up being wasted by rival gangs.

If we're talking about a Federal law, which I am, the the country doesn't matter. It just needs to occur within the United States.

For the same reason you need a door lock and an ignition lock.

InB4: "But Wayne, thEre's n0 lAw saYinG you HAVE TO hAvE thoSe."

Right, because everyone already has them, and if everyone were already using trigger locks then we wouldn't need a law about trigger locks.
