Crossbows were designed only for killing, lets ban crossbows

In Germany there has been a bunch of killings done with crossbows. So lets ban crossbows, the only thing they're good for is killing. After all, that's what they're designed for.

Get back to me when there are 15,000 homicides using crossbows every year, then perhaps strict regulations would be wise.

Nobody would be calling for gun control in the US if there were only 4 or 5 killings per year.

You do know that many of those homicides are justifiable homicides, where a good person shoots a bad person, don't you?

They wouldn't get much support but if there was a gun lobby that votes against politicians who want gun control, then yes those politicians would be calling for gun control

Most deaths involving firearms are suicides-60% or more

than the next biggest number-about 8K are felons-unable to legally own guns-murdering others (the vast majority of those murdered by felons are other criminals)

then previously legal gun owners killing others illegally or legally

then accidental deaths.

Gun control laws have almost zero impact on the two largest causes of gun shot deaths and very little impact on someone who can buy a gun legally but intends on using it illegally (like the Vegas shooter)

You're wrong given that tournament crossbow shooting is fairly big in countries like Germany and Estonia, Hungary, Switzerland, England and in the USA, it is growing, especially in 3D archery tournaments. Medieval style crossbows aren't used for hunting-but mainly for those SCPA type re-creation groups

Are there hundreds of millions of crossbows?

Are there hundreds of millions of crossbows?

well in the USA there are many thousands given how popular deer hunting with them is. I am aware of one case of a homicide with a crossbow-the killer is either doing LWOP or is on death row in Cincinnati. A late coach of mine and the head of a large chain of sporting goods stores, sold the guy a crossbow. He originally wanted a pistol but a crossbow was cheaper and he didn't have to fill out a form or wait (cannot recall-I believe it was doing the Brady wait period). So he bought a crossbow. Took his wife into the woods and blindfolded her-telling her he had a surprise for her. He didn't realize that people shot with bows don't drop dead in most cases. (Anyone who hunts deer can tell you of cases where a deer shot through both lungs will run over 100 yards). My late coach was one of the witnesses in the State's murder case.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's lots of crossbows in Germany where this happened since you don't find that many guns there, then again, there are lots of guns in Germany although nothing like what we've got in the USA, but Germany does have a relatively high gun ownership rate.
