Where's the outrage by the pro gun types?

I found hundreds of teenagers and young people, almost all of them black, being marched to prison not for firing a gun, or even pointing one, but for having one.

What is the legal age for owning a gun in Brooklyn? Is it "teenage"?

In any case, I'm against any laws that punish people for having a gun. However, I think laws for people who commit crimes with guns should result in the maximum penalty: Death.

Young men of color who weren't supposed to have weapons due to prior convictions, or carrying weapons inside NYC without permits?

They sound pretty freaking stupid to me.

Obey the law.

The article states their guns were obtained illegally and that's why they wound up in jail. The NRA is not going to condone anything illegal. Actually mayor Deblasio is doing preventative maintenance by locking these guys up before they use those illegal guns.

Brooklyn, NY?

The main reason we don't comment about anything NYC related is because the 5 boroughs re well known as a "Selective Civil Rights" zone. People in that part of NY have, essentially, given up their rights and accept whatever the state and city choose for them.

When you actively pursue dependence on the state you are fully deserving of what you get.

It's what libbies always have a tizzy about: Enforcement of the law. Except in Obama's Justice Department which wanted no part in enforcing the southern border security.
 
1-Ive always said...if the people of New York...or California...or Illinois...or wherever tolerate the intrusions on their rights thats on them. **** em.
2-Color me shocked that Mayor DiBlasio has implemented stupid laws. DiBlasio is the dumb **** that ordered police to start arresting people for selling 'loosies' which ended up with Eric Gardner getting arrested, having his fat ass resisting arrest, and dying of cardiac arrest.
3-Comparing a law abiding citizen in Ohio to people that break the laws on the books in New York is...stupid.

So...if the citizens of New York want to rise up and challenge the idiot leftist in their state government, I would absolutely support them. Until then...

what exactly is it that you are whining about again?

I believe in most states you can get long guns at 18 so teenage would be the legal age for owning long guns in most states although Im not sure if that's how it is in Brooklyn.

Are you advocating the freedom to break state (or city) gun laws? What is the use of having a "gun permit" law if it is not going to be enforced or have the recommended sentence imposed for those who violate that law?

You seem to be accusing the government of actually enforcing the laws that it made. Noting that "young men of color" are the bulk of those charged and convicted of violating the law does not mean that the law is bad or discriminatory. If someone is so stupid as to post a video of themselves with a gun lacking a permit for having any gun then they deserve to be charged and convicted. The same goes for carrying a gun in public (in a "liberal" gun law zone) knowing that it is illegal to do so without a permit.

Once the 2A is turned into a mere state issued privilege, after passing a test and paying a fee, then this is exactly what should be expected. The problem is the "gun permit" law itself - not the enforcement of it.

Are you seriously suggesting that the appropriate response to violations of our Constitutional rights is to tell the victims they should have obeyed the law?

Or does that only apply to victims who are young, poor, and/or black?

Well..NO...actually...



This kind of **** happens all the time. Yes...to WHITE PEOPLE TOO. But no one ever makes it into a civil issues when white people do stupid things like fighting with cops or failing to obey the law. Those incidents only matter when someone can turn it into a racial incident to exploit.

As for people in New York not following the law...maybe they should take their ass to the state capital and fight for their rights.

Just a thought.

That's because when this **** happens to white people, other people actually saw their weapons before the shooting, they're actually offered the chance to surrender before they're shot, and all of their bullet holes mysteriously wind up in their front.

But who wants to let pesky little facts get in the way of a perfectly good racist narrative?

"Disproportionately" to what?

This is an example of gun control zealots reaping what they sow, and then whining about it.

The article does highlight one area of blatant hypocrisy: that gun control advocates think that a 3+ year prison sentence is appropriate sentence for carrying a gun without a nearly impossible to get license, but they're apparently totally okay with the penalties for speeding for drunk driving (both far more dangerous than unlicensed carry) being a complete slap on the wrist.

Did you ever think about those violating gun laws might have a tendency towards a particular race simply because that area is predominant in that race?

This is precisely the type of gun control measures most pro 2nd Amendment people fight against because it just serves to lock up people but you don't like or that are inconvenient to your society.

And it's pretty clear that Brooklyn is very Democrat. So this is on the gun control advocates.
