Court halts public housing gun ban, big win for Ill. rape victim

Luckily a federal court in Illinois recognized this too and overturned a move by the East St. Louis Housing Authority to kick someone out of their house because they had a gun to defend themselves after they had been raped.

A federal court on Thursday cleared the way for an Illinois rape victim to have a gun in her public housing apartment to protect herself from further domestic violence, the latest judicial victory for Second Amendment advocates.

Senior Judge J. Phil Gilbert for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois in Benton, Ill., issued a permanent injunction on the East St. Louis Housing Authority's gun ban, claiming it violated the Second and 14th Amendments letting citizens protect themselves.

He ordered the East St. Louis Housing Authority to erase the ban on guns for residents from its lease.

Just one of the millions of stories of how guns save lives.

Guns Make Defending Yourself from Rape Easy

I don't think "easy" is the word I would use, especially when defending oneself against a physically larger assailant.

Having a gun available, though, and having the willingness to use it, most certainly increases the options that victims have.

The same could be said about them making killing too easy, but that thread got 100 replies. Guess the anti gun people arent so eager to respond when faced with reality.

Many of the people who think having a gun makes killing "too easy" are just projecting their own dark urges. I carry a gun every day. I wasn't likely to murder anyone before I started carrying, and its ready availability hasn't changed that liklihood.

Yes, sometimes guns may save your life, but very often it is a reason of death of a lot human`s lifes. And it seems like gun plays a different role, not the one it suppose to, it plays against people`s life(( But still it is so soo issue, it deserve more attention from community for deep discussion of all pros and cons. But gov has to remember that human`s life is on the top!
