Very easy to say there are more firearm deaths in the US when comparing it to countries that don't have the same freedoms. What they don't tell you in that article is anything else of relevance. They don't tell you what countries they compared the US to, They don't tell you what the totals where for anything. Did you know that the US ranks 84th in per capita deaths from violent crimes?

Which countries did they compare the US to? The link provides very little real data. It seems that who ever did the study was looking for one thing and cherry picked their countries to provide the data they wanted.

The US still has only just north of 5 violent death crimes per 100,000, even countries like Great Britain is at 4 per 100,000. and they don't allow guns at all.

Heroin has been completely banned in the USA for decades-and the supply has to be constantly replenished (unlike a firearm that often will last 100 years). More people have died of heroin overdoses in 2017, then have been killed by the 20 million plus AR-15 rifles that Americans have bought over the last 50 years.

I think the homicide rate among blacks may be higher than the homicide rate among other ethnics but so what? Civilized people and police forces must remain armed and vigilant against armed threats from dangerous ungodly barbarians no matter what ethnic group they are in.

Maybe don't just focus on firearm deaths. If you want to say that the US is more dangerous because of guns, focus on overall homicide rates.

To your credit, the US has a higher homicide rate than other countries with a similar income level. However, we can't just jump to conclusions and say that it's due to easy access to guns. We need to look for other factors such as rule of law and poverty.

When it comes to rule of law, the US doesn't rank too badly.

As for poverty, we notice an inverse correlation between crime and wealth. This may be why gun control advocates only say that the US has a higher murder rate than the rest of the DEVELOPED world rather than the rest of the world. If you look at the states near the top in homicide rates (Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, and New Mexico) have a higher rate of poverty. Meanwhile, Hawaii, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wyoming also have low rates of poverty.

It's obviously not a perfect correlation since you have states like Maryland and Alaska which rank relatively low in poverty but much higher in homicide rate but it still helps to explain why some gun lenient states like NH and Maine have low homicide rates (NH has roughly the same rate as the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand).

Violent crime happens disproportionately in inner cities. Examples of cities which really jack up the murder rate are New Orleans, St. Louis, Chicago, Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Detroit, Cleaveland, and Columbus (many of these are rust belt cities). Washington DC also has a very high homicide rate (despite strict gun control).

Another thing worth noting is that the countries in Europe may be counting murder differently than the US. While the US counts all murder cases, the UK only counts convictions.
