One reason men insist on owning a gun

This is fact, Jack.

How do we deal with these shallow men?

People constantly complain that anti gun posters are not respected nor are their posts treated respectfully in this section of the forum. Well this sort of idiocy is an example why-a stupid assertion that is designed to smear or ridicule gun owners, completely devoid of factual support.

You discount accidents and the proliferation of guns all these "little men" cause.

As more guns have been introduced into our society, the rate of accidental gun injuries have decreased. Your stupid posts are nothing more than the symptom of someone who doesn't like the politics of gun owners and you have no valid arguments against gun ownership.

It's as much common knowledge as the claim that men who are afraid of guns have no masculinity.

I think there is evidence that a fear of weapons is the sign of sexual immaturity. I believe Freud stated that.

Thread is already trashed, and devolved into ad hominem.

This is what happens when there is no real intention for discussion and debate.

it is what happens when the position that is taken is based on a cultural or political hatred of the group that exercises a right vs actually understanding the exercise of said right

Some men have ego problems so they buy guns thinking the gun will project a more powerful masculinity.

How do we deal with this common problem that is a big contributor to the horrific gun problem in this country?

Well, it is ONE reason. Another reason is to protect oneself from the zombie apocalypse. Or to turn off lights from a distance. I can come up with all sorts of reasons.

But the reason that MOST men insist on owning a gun is probably a combination of family protection and second amendment support.

Come on, that's a dumb comment. There may be some like that, but not all. Many own guns for hunting. Or for sport, they like to go shoot targets. Some for defense. Some are just complete cowards that can't feel safe unless they are armed, they have to hide behind a gun. Some want to pretend they are rambo or that they will be the militia

Personally I wouldn't mind having a gun. I'd keep it locked up just in case civilization breaks down and that would come in handy.

To be accurate, CDC data shows an 80% decline in the unintentional firearm death rate from 1981 to 2017.

How about women who buy guns? Ever since the Obama administration the number of women who buy guns has been record high.

Have you ever thought that maybe some of us carry a gun, because a police officer is too heavy?

Hmm...over the past few years I've seen more and more women buying guns. Are they also trying to project a more powerful masculinity?

agree

There are a handful of very well adjusted gun owners who are responsible and very pro gun restrictions.

The problem with your argument is that your gun does not leave me alone to live as I want. It slaughters my children and friends.

Ah yes.

The Chicken Little effect.

This is hate speech. This kind of hatred is another justification for private gun ownership.

Those people are Fudds and are no better than the anti-gunners.

Cold you imagine if someone started a thread as for why some protected lberal class did what they did?

This is no way near a common problem. I have never met a fellow gun owner who I had any thought of being that way. I think its probably a rather small minority.

This response sound like it may be generated by an ego problem. Do you have a gun?

Do you lock your doors? Do you have a security system? How much money do you make?

Do you have any masculinity?

Let's just say that if you and I are in a room full of women it is not you that will walk out with the most desirable ones.

That you can take to the bank.

I have a wife. I don't need to chase women. And if you think that masculinity is defined as picking up women, you've got it all wrong.

Generally at night, I don't pay close attention to it.

Do you have a security system?

Yes I do, it's really for my office for when I am not home. I never engage it except for vacation.

How much money do you make?

Not sure how this is relevant but top 2% before I was forced to an early retirement by health.

Is there a point to asking these questions?

I asked some loser Trumpet similar things a few days ago and he went running to the mods claiming I had broken some kind of privacy rules. Just saying. I wish I recalled his name. It's good to expose wimps like that, especially Trumpet wimps with guns.

Where do they do they project their balls with guns at? The mall? The gym? On the streets of Deadwood or Dodge City? Where? (I guess I don't get out enough, since this is apparently common knowledge. :doh)

I ask if you lock your doors to see if you recognize the reality that there are bad people in the world that may want to do you harm.

I ask what kind of money you make to see if you can afford to be inorganically sheltered from those bad people.

Most people can't afford to seperate themselves from those bad people and they want another layer of protection for when a bad guy defeats that locked door.

If you don't want to own a gun, either because you oppose owning a gun, or because you can afford not to, that's fine, that's your right. What isn't your right is trying to force other people to not own a gun.

OK, this ought to be good. Just what is masculinity for if not attacking women?
