that is not accurate-the actual date is May 19, 1986. any "automatic" firearm "registered" after that date cannot be owned by private citizens unless they have very hard to get Title II manufacturer's licenses or a Class III dealership with a police request authorization document. You are right in that the Hughes amendment (unconstitutionally) prevents private citizens from owning any automatic weapon that is currently produced

    • Bans the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of 205 military-style assault weapons by name. Owners may keep existing weapons.
    • Bans any assault weapon that accepts a detachable ammunition magazine and has one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock. Owners may keep existing weapons.
    • Bans magazines and other ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, which allow shooters to quickly fire many rounds without needing to reload. Owners may keep existing magazines. - https://www.feinstein.senate.gov/pub...D-C577212ED17B

Yes nothing to see here, they aren't coming for our guns?

"In addition to Feinstein, Murphy and Blumenthal, cosponsors of the bill include Senators Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Tom Carper (D-Del.), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Bob Casey (D-Pa.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.). - Same as above.

    Any questions?

What makes this most insidious? After you die or move to a state or municipality where you can't have it? Must be destroyed as it is illegal to sell or give away.

Trying to do an end run around the Constitution.
Here's a great compromise that Feinstein might sign onto. Don't call them illegal firearms. Call them undocumented guns, and allow them to live in sanctuary homes.

The average citizen cannot afford an FFL, especially since you pretty much have to have a storefront these days in order to be approved. That's like needing to own a dealership just to buy a single car. Ridiculous.

And for an FFL to get that sample, you need a letter from an LEO agency. Not every FFL can get that.

And of those samples, the FFL doesn't always get to keep them in their inventory.

And you have to close down the FFL in order to transfer that sample to yourself.

That's a long, very expensive process.

So somewhat less than 100% prohibited then.

So anyone who thinks the wall won't work or for whatever reason doesn't own a gun - if they get hurt or killed by an immigrant or an intruder, they're automatically a victim, right? They should own a gun/be cheerleaders for the wall, right?

If I were to say 'heroin is banned' there would be some idiot saying heroin is not banned because of an exception (it can be prescribed to you in a rehab clinic).

    Exceptions prove the rule, people.

Machine guns are banned. Citing an FFL loophole or a collector's license only proves that machine guns are banned.
