Law Abiding Citizen Shoots Dead Four People

First off, the UK and Australia both had less firearms to collect to begin with....

First of all, so what ?

...second, both the UK and Australia didn't get rid of all of their firearms. In fact, you can still buy furearms in both countries....

True, and those allowances would work perfectly well in the USA

...the UK and Australia has a different culture than we do....

So ban guns, bring gun ownership down to British/Australian levels and there goes your gun culture problem.

Smacks of excuse #3 to me

70% would be a good start

Then the remaining 30% will fall into law enforcement's hands as and when criminals are caught and their guns seized.
You're missing the fact that in Australia the guns were registered, in the USA there is no national registry so they wouldn't know who has what gun so they wouldn't know whose supposed to turn in what gun.

Banning the private sale of ammunition will also help.
I've heard of people who believe in that, all guns should be legal but ammunition should be illegal.

Don't try to argue that seizing 300+ million guns is impossible...it is very do-able. Yes it will take time but it will be worth it.
And how do you imply that gets done, by going door to door in the entire country?

You've said so before you want handguns banned. In Australia you can own handguns, although its a difficult and complicated procedure to legally get handguns in Australia it can be done. So you're contradicting yourself if you say you want to ban handguns and you are fine with gun laws like Australia.

It's hard to be consistent when you've been at the gin.

First of all, so what ?

So what? It's simple math. It's easier to collect a million guns than it is to collect 400 million guns.

But you want all guns to be banned.

So ban guns, bring gun ownership down to British/Australian levels and there goes your gun culture problem.

First you need to convince enough people to want to ban guns in the first place, then you have to convince those who have guns to turn them in. Our culture is steeped with independence and rebellion. The likelihood of convincing enough people to make a law banning guns, let alone convincing those who have guns to turn them in, is slim to none.
