Florida group to initiate an "assault weapons" ban on the ballot.

Ban them on safety grounds.

They're too unsafe to use.

They are extremely safe to use. Been using the same .22 semi auto rifle for 30 years never had any trouble or accidents with it.

If you are talking about semi auto rifles, that's just silly. but I agree we should ban anti gun politicians. they decrease our public safety

This kind of mob rule is exactly what The Constitution was designed to defeat.

And the second was designed to protect against.

30,000+ deaths due to cars with automatic transmissions....

Ban automatic transmissions.

OT; everyone should learn on a manual transmission and young men should learn to shave with a blade, imo!

bought me another ar15 lower reciever today and ordered 2 more

gun shop is selling the heck out of AR's here in florida. Said it had been slow until recently. gun control talk just brings on more buying.

As the title states, there's a group in Flotida trying to get an amendment on the 2020 ballot that will ban so called assault weapons. If this gets on the ballot, I'm obviously going to vote no. But I'm posting this to spread the word and hopefully we can stop the petition befpre it can even gain enough votes. More info linked in the video.

That seems unlikely. No chance of 60% voting for it. And why even bother? Handguns are used 20x more often in assaults.

Because no-one's been killed by a semi-auto rifle ever ?

more people are killed in the USA by beatings than rifles each year

AIMSURPLUS near where I live had sales of Locally made (Hebron Ky, right across the Ohio River) ANDERSON made receivers. High quality stuff-40 bucks a receiver. Bought several-stuffed them in the one of the safes. every other part I can buy online

i live in florida and i a curious.

define ban:
Prohibits possession of assault weapons, defined as semiautomatic rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition at once, either in fixed or detachable magazine, or any other ammunition-feeding device. Possession of handguns is not prohibited. Exempts military and law enforcement personnel in their official duties. Exempts and requires registration of assault weapons lawfully possessed prior to this provision’s effective date. Creates criminal penalties for violations of this amendment.

this is just fearmongering and will certainly help gun sales.
Not for long, if it passes...

So people will just buy handguns and extra mags. Criminals will still buy 'assault rifles' or steal them from lawful owners. It wont lower crime, so whats the point?

good luck with that. I hope it causes a bunch of bannerrhoid politicians to lose if they advocate this nonsense. It is clearly unconstitutional too and has no valid reason for its passage

the compliance rate of current gun owners-based on what has happened in other areas that have had "grandfather" provisions is almost always well under 20%

10,000+ deaths to firearms per year would seem to refute that.

The 40,000+ deaths from auto accidents would seem to mean it's safer to own a gun than a car.

And you would be right

Cars are less safe than guns. This is why the government is constantly passing new laws to make them safer...and banning the sale of cars that are deemed unsafe.

But motorized transport is essential in the USA...guns aren't.

Gun ownership is a right car ownership US not.

Who are you to determine what is or is not essential in the USA. That's pretty freaking arragont if you.

Drinkable alcohol is also not essential in the USA and kills nearly three times as many people as guns do. What are your thoughts on banning a few of the most popular alcoholic beverages, since they are responsible for a large percentage of alcohol related deaths and serve no purpose?
