A Fight, a Gun and another School Shooting

A Fight, a Gun and another School Shooting

So what?

Who cares?

This is America.

Tomorrow it will be a different school and a different gun.

Rinse and repeat.

This is the world we have accepted.

This is the world we live in.

America is okay with it or it would change.

Legal gun owners usually shoot unarmed innocents, be it a domestic, a road rage or mass shooting incident. The South Chicago hunch carrying illegal guns typically shoot other armed criminals.

Is it really that surprising that most people care more about murdered innocents than dead drug dealers?

the number of legal gun owners is around 100 million

the number of murders committed by legal gun owners each year is less than 3000.

do the math

See post 73

irrelevant-its a violation of state and federal laws to try to buy a handgun in Indiana if you live in Chicago. You seem to think all we need is to pass a few more laws that criminals will ignore

That's what a lot of people don't seem to understand.

Yeah, guns kill people. That's what their sole purpose is. My .40 cal will put a hole in a mother****er's head you can drive through.

I wish we lived in a world with no guns and no killings, free Mountain Dew and all the pecan pie I can eat.

But we don't.

Guns are here. You can't get toothpaste back in the tube. Wish all you want but it's too late.

Guns are everywhere.

Therefore, I have one too. (Well, several, actually.)

And my prayer is that my draw will be quick and my shot be true if ever that son of a bitch with evil intention approacehes me with HIS gun.

It is what it is people.

I didn't get us to where we are now. I'm only forced to live among it.

Be DAMNED if I'm going to be outgunned. As the protector, I owe it to myself and my family.

lol...yeah, like that stops anyone from making a huge profit.

that's both stupid and irrelevant. your solution to people violating the laws is to pass more laws rather than enforcing the ones on the book since you KNOW that law abiding people tend to obey even stupid laws. So you want more laws to harass gun owners and pretend it is to stop people who already ignore the laws on the books

I agree with everything you say but the part I highlighted. I own lots of guns. very very few do I own for self defense. I have competed at a National class level in

American Skeet (Triple A in four gun)
ISU Skeet (National JO champion, multiple All-American teams)
ISU Trap (3X state champion)
Clays-State, Area, and Region high master winner
Pin shooting (National record at one time)
USPSA (Class A in 89=current equivalent-Grand Master)
Steel (Master)
GSSF league (member of the 500/500 club)

Now each one of those disciplines require different competitive weapons. True, the PCC I use for steel plates (a Leadstar 9mm Race carbine) would be a very effective self defense weapon. The CZ Custom CTS 9mm race pistol I use for steel and USPSA would also be. and the AR 15 rifle and 10 shot semi auto shotgun (FnH SLP-1) I use for 3 Gun competitions also are extremely effective anti-personnel weapons. But I didn't buy them for that use

what relevance does that have to this subject. sounds like trolling again

No. I only pointed out why the Chicago law is not working. Indiana is less than 20 miles away.

The obvious relevance. A gun ban with nothing but a street separating the banned area from one with free wheeling gun laws is pretty useless.

Illinois has three times as many guns traced to Illinois as it does from Indiana.

yet the area without the gun ban doesn't have anywhere near the gun crime. maybe the solution is to get rid of the bans rather than expand stupid bans to free areas

I understand.

But we can agree that you are rather the exception to the rule? Most people do not have your credentials and background. Most people own guns for protection and hunting and MIGHT make it to a range once or twice a year. They expect their guns to be able to kill ****.

Granted, we have trap and skeet and other competitive sports involving guns that many people participate in. I do not include them in my stated generalzation as they are few and far between in the over-all picture. But I should have been more clear.

It is pretty much an excepted rule of thumb here at DP that we discuss issues in general terms. I never considered you as a "general" (average) gun owner. You are more like a gun guru. A Jedi of all things ballistic.

The rest of Illinois does not have nearly the gun crime as, let's say, Louisiana. And the per capita murder rate in Chicago is a fraction of that in New Orleans, which has no gun ban. I wonder why that is.

Why does Maryland have a higher violence rate than say, Texas or Vermont?

My guess is that MD simply has more violent criminals per capita. After all, criminals do not obey (even more strict) laws.

That can't be it. Maryland has such strict laws. Must be fake news.

Too many guns, too easy to get one, too many people incapable of being responsible when they have one.

In a nushell - beautifully written.

Exit Polls from Mid-Terms - over 60% want more gun control.

As long as it's Constitutional, effective and enforceable, and would be enforced, and we start enforcing current laws first, no problem.

if you all really believed in what polls wanted, gay marriage and abortion would not have been legal until very recently
