Let's say you were running for office, the NRA hears your rhetoric and realizes that you are pro-2a and starts making ads to help get you elected since you won't take contributions from them. What do you do?
I make ads explaining why I support the second amendment, but not this lobbying group. It would be a nice slap in the face without actually pissing off potential second-amendment-supporting members. I would absolutely love to support the second amendment while showing the NRA for what they really are; a for-profit lobbying firm that places the manufacture and sale of weapons above the will of the people.
My issue with much of the campaign finance reform is that there isn't really anything that can be done.
Yes there is. Overturning Citizens United, for one. For now, I'll settle with supporting candidates that don't take Pac-money. The mid-terms are going to be very interesting in this regard. The MSM has already declared the progressive movement to be defunct because we've lost some, but I'm wondering how many of those who've won their primaries, will win the general.
Where voting will not avail us, we protest. If we are to take back our representation then we must really drive in the screws and make life as ****ing uncomfortable as possible for those in power. That is the duty of a free-loving, democracy-loving society.
It will be very difficult to reform our government into a 'for the people, by the people' state, but not impossible, and not the job of cowards or quitters.
Yes, I'm slightly insane, just to get that out of the way.
