Title says it all.

I know that the Constitution allows for guns to be owned privately.

But seriously what are the benefits of gun ownership ?

I suspect the main benefit (other than gratification is shooting them) is psychological

What are the benefits of owning a high performance sports car...or a big engine, all-wheel-drive truck that never goes off road - other than to make someone feel better about themselves ?

Moot point.

The purpose of a gun, is the benefit of a gun to private citizens.

No, seriously, are there any tangible benefits to having a gun or is it just to make you feel better about yourself ?

I don’t think you are being serious

I don't think you have a credible answer.

Hunting, protection, recreational activities...

Were you really unable to think of such simple answers?

For me, personally?

"Get out of my house" or "Don't move, I'm calling the police" actually means something.
Same also applied to when I owned a post production studio.

Oh yeah, I did enjoy bagging a few deer up in Northern Minnesota back in the days of my "yute".
So there's that, too.
They were very tasty and a lot cheaper than buying meat at the supermarket.

The speakers? Those are James B. Lansing (JBL) or were you asking about the video monitors?

The main video monitors are all Barco's. The little B/W's are all cheapo CONRACS, but those are just for getting the framing correct anyway.

Sorry, audio.

Yeah JBL's, powered at first by Phase Linears, which we eventually called "Flame Linears" because they had a habit of catching on fire. Great while they worked. Replaced by Crown amps.

Mostly I use mine to kill things that taste good but sometimes things that just annoy me, and occasionally they are just fun to shoot...

Makes it hard for me to believe that anyone would be asking this question at any time in history. Your answer is NOYB as to why anyone owns any property that is deemed legal.
Putting down law abiding gun owners must be making you feel better about yourself, yes?

This has got to be one of the dumbest threads I have seen on the forum. If you honestly can't think of a single reason as to why someone would want a gun other than "to feel better about themselves" I must question how you even managed to type a sentence that made any sense. Then again, I am sure you are just trying to be clever, or play gotcha games. Sadly, you came ill prepared to a forum that you clearly don't know much about, and people of all political leanings now see how bad this thread is.

Yeah it's kinda hard to go outside at 0 dark thirty to get my hi-pro sports car or big ass 4x4 if someone decides they want what I have and don't give a damn how they accomplish it. That's why I keep a 9mm with HP close at hand.

Without trying to be pedantic...those benefits are....?

I may leave something out, but here goes: Protection of self, property, and loved ones from threats to life, health, and safety, whether that threat originates from a criminal threat, a government threat, a terrorist threat, a foreign threat, or an animal threat, as well as hunting, sport/competition, recreation, hobby, or any other reason a person may determine that they wish to pursue with a firearm given that personal protection/self preservation and the arms that enable that protection/preservation are a natural inalienable right of all mankind and maintaining a proficiency with those firearms ensures a higher level of success at performing personal protection/self preservation (including that of a persons loved ones and property).

Like I said, I may have left something out, but for me that pretty much covers it.
