Gun control ad - 1981

I would say that individuals and society is safer if it has an armed populace, yes. On the other hand, when the people are disarmed, tyranny takes over. We have thousands of years of war to prove it. But on the micro level its even more important. If I cant defend myself, who will?

You can have guns and gun control

What can you do about "more guns", or even the number of guns we have now?

We can talk about that too if you like. But I was addressing the assertion that more guns means people are safer.

Is that a gun control issue or just a PSA?

Pictures of two places: one where there is complete freedom to own whatever weapons and firearms you want. The populace is armed. People use their guns all the time there defensively and to prevent and deter crime and violence- sometimes several times a day. The other has very strict gun control.

One is one of the safest places on the planet. The other is one of the most dangerous on the planet. Can you tell which is which?

Which one is Russia?

Well the science disagrees but more importantly this is not a solution to gun violence

Countries where gun ownership is practically banned have higher suicide rates than we do. So the science agrees with me that if people want to off themselves then they will find a way to do it. I don't think the Japanese or any other people are better at suicide than we are.

Culture is a factor. The US culture is clear. States with lax gun laws have high suicide rates

If culture was factor then anti-2nd amendment trash wouldn't have even brought up the fact that the US has more gun deaths than any other country. So don't sit there and try to play the its the culture card when you were just agreeing with other anti-2nd amendment trash on the gun deaths and how we needs more anti-2nd amendment laws.

Culture is a factor but not the only factor and the way to rule out variables is have over a dozen different places all with different cultures that have low gun deaths. Gun control works

Are you saying black people are to blame?

And the discharge of firearms is also banned in most public places...

So if you're attacked and you fear for you life in a public place, you may not draw a firearm and protect yourself ???

I guess I need to throw away my Georgia State issued Concealed Carry License !!!!

...its people that use the guns to kill thousands of times a year...

Yeah...and if they had water pistols instead of real guns what would the net result in lives lost be ?

...and we saw how that worked out with the nazis and the commies and the British empire when they ruled over what now is the USA....

Don't talk about stuff about which you know nothing

I think the Nazis had more than enough guns to commit their atrocities.

...In this country you're innocent until proven guilty...

One: Don't be so naive

Two: So we should let an individual buy all the guns and ammo he/she wants and take action only AFTER he/she uses them ??
Eg: Mr Paddock in Vegas.

...the only shooting of those three that was unpreventable was the Vegas shooting....

And only that one in hind sight

Sorry, we have NO idea what you or any gun owner (assuming you're a gun owner) may not do with that gun.

So ban it.

Not doing so is not worth the risk...

You have no need for owning guns...society has a definite need for you NOT to have guns.

With school shootings we need armed security on campus, some of the faculty and staff could be armed, as President Trump pointed out they would have to be very specialized but it should be done. It will save children's lives.[/QUOTE]

But-but-but, when your would be King Obama was talking about the 2nd he was clear that his wasn't out to "take our hunting rifles". Well he wanted them all and people like you confirm it.

I really don't care what Obama thought he could achieve in a Republican dominated Congress.

All privately owned guns need to be banned.
