If You Want To Talk About All Gun Deaths

Prevalence of Childhood Obesity in the United States
Childhood obesity is a serious problem in the United States putting children and adolescents at risk for poor health. Obesity prevalence among children and adolescents is still too high.

For children and adolescents aged 2-19 years1:

The prevalence of obesity was 18.5% and affected about 13.7 million children and adolescents.
Obesity prevalence was 13.9% among 2- to 5-year-olds, 18.4% among 6- to 11-year-olds, and 20.6% among 12- to 19-year-olds. Childhood obesity is also more common among certain populations.
Hispanics (25.8%) and non-Hispanic blacks (22.0%) had higher obesity prevalence than non-Hispanic whites (14.1%).

Whataboutism

So you agree that your post #32 is irrelevant?

If you want to talk about all types of gun deaths which would be homicides, suicides, and accidental deaths its only fair that we talk about all deaths that fall under the categories of homicides, suicides, and accidental deaths and not limit it to just guns. Talking about just gun deaths would not be fair as there are obviously other ways to die. When talking about homicides there has been mention that that doesn't take all gun deaths into account since not all gun deaths are homicides. Therefore it is only proper to talk about all gun deaths but not limit it to just gun deaths. We should talk about all homicides, all suicides, and all accidental deaths. We won't talk about other causes of death such as disease or old age since guns do not cause those kinds of deaths.

The question that seems to have been missed here is, why? Why would i combine all the ways to die together. What possible use could that be other than the gun pro crowd attempting to make the issue so obscure and difficult that with a bit of luck everyone will walk away from it and leave the pro gun crowd to do whatever dumb **** they want to.

Your attempting a one solution fits all problems type of thinking here? Which is a new level of desperate.

For example. joko104 makes an excellent point.
Over 600,000 people die of heart attacks each year - 1 in 4 deaths. Cholesterol is the #1 cause of heart attacks. Hamburgers do kill more people than guns.

But apparently your thinking is that if we have a person who is a known criminal who prefers to shoot people and rob them then sitting him down and discussing his high cholesterol level from eating to many hamburgers will help resolve his killing sprees.

Or is it that you think the purpose of discussing homicides, suicides or safety issues is just to talk and feel good about having a conversation. That there is no point to it or any conclusions to be reached about how to lower the frequency of such events. That it is just a conversation for the sake of just talking but not doing anything about. Therefore why not lump them all together and talk **** about everything just for the sake of talking ****.

So while more guns might mean more gun deaths specifically it should also be taken into question if cities, states, and countries with more restrictive gun control have lower rates of homicide, suicide, and accidental deaths overall whether they're with guns or not.

Again, why? Do you know what is the meaning of correlation and association? Other than the fact that a gun (along with most any other object you may care to mention) can be used in a homicide, suicide, and accidental death. What possible connection are you trying to make here. Would it be the usual whinging of the pro gun crowd that guns are somehow magically responsible for homicides, suicides, and accidental deaths instead of just being a tool used in such incidents?
